It should be near the shift cable entry. The ball rides on the shift quadrant inside the transmission and the three pins are neutral safety, reverse lights, and power. The plug will only go it one way. The wires are very susceptible to damage and corrosion from road debris. My reverse lights quit working because one wire had rotted off at the plug. A new plug is available at a dealer. Last edited by dave1123; 06-21-2019 at 09:02 PM.

Where is the neutral safety switch located on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee? It should be near the shift cable entry. The ball rides on the shift quadrant inside the transmission and the three pins are neutral safety, reverse lights, and power. The plug will only go it one way.
What happens when the neutral safety switch fails? The switch prevents the engine from starting when not in park or neutral. This eleiminates the risk of starting an automatic car in drive or reverse mode. Located in the linkage or the transmission box, a bad neutral safety switch can cause irreversible damage to your car's engine and transmission.
