Hello, All,
New member here.
We need to change the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids on our grandson's 2010 Cobalt with the 2.2L engine because of codes P0013 and P0014.
It looks like the intake unit is located on the left side of the engine below the oil filter. My question is where is the exhaust unit located? It appears it may be on the left rear side of the engine near the firewall and difficult to access. Can someone give us the correct location? Thanks for any help offered.

Both are side by side on the top of the engine on the left looking from the front, seated in the valve cover. Intake solenoid is toward the front and exhaust is towards the back.

Both those codes are for the exhaust actuator solenoid.
P0013 Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit ECM
P0014 Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance ECM
Arrow points to the exhaust.

Thank you, Coby 7. Just to confirm, this is a 2010 2.2 L engine. Will get into it when my grandson brings his car over.

Remove the engine cover and you will see them just to the left of the first ignition coil.

Did your problem stay solved? In my limited experience, it seems those actuators fail due to gunked up oil or debris in the engine.

Where is the camshaft position actuator solenoid located?

Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid are located on the cylinder head of your Chevrolet or GM vehicle control the position of the camshafts.

What does the exhaust camshaft actuator solenoid do?

The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve controls the oil flow to the actuator, which in turn, advances or retards the camshaft. Solenoid operation is controlled by the car's primary computer, also known as the powertrain control module or PCM.

How much does it cost to replace a camshaft adjuster solenoid?

The average cost for camshaft position sensor replacement is between $180 and $223. Labor costs are estimated between $72 and $91 while parts are priced between $108 and $132.
