2012 honda civic oil capacity with filter

Hey guys! I recently bought a used 2012 civic si with about 140,000 miles on the odometer. I did my first oil change today and my head is absolutely spinning. The manual says full is 4.4 quarts yet when I put that into the engine, the dipstick is only halfway up too the second dot. I poured the remaining oil from the 5 quart jug into it and now it says full on the dipstick. Is Honda lying to us or is worn in engines require more oil?

  1. Engine Code: A series of letters and numbers. This includes the engine block model and engine family, but may include others.
  2. Capacity/Filter capacity: litres(liters). Engine oil fill quantity in case of oil change.
  3. Oil Change Intervals: Engine oil should be changed at the latest after this time or after miles/km, whichever comes first.

The oil filter must be replaced every time the oil is changed, unless the car's owner's manual recommends otherwise.
