You can find the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe camshaft position sensor on the right hand side of the cylinder head. The purpose of a camshaft position sensor is to determine the position of the camshaft as it relates to the crankshaft. This data is then sent to the powertrain control module (PCM) for use with fuel injector and/or ignition system control.But what are some signs of a bad or failing camshaft position sensor A failing camshaft position sensor begins losing its ability to quickly transfer data. @robfish its located behind the starter and you’ll have to reach it from under the car.

(Sorry for the double posting of this question: I'm a rookie in this forum. Chastise me gently, please!) Hi, I get a code stating that the crankshaft position sensor A circuit isn't working (and the car is hard to start, so I don't doubt it). Now I want to change the sensor, but I can't find it on the engine! Can anyone help me out? I hope it's not buried with the timing belt. And I'm surprised that Google, which is usually so helpful in such matters, isn't helping.

What code did you get....?

was it p0016 and p0017?

The Crank sensor is on the transmission - - - where the engine and trans meet - -Just under the front valve train.
You need to take out the battery - - holder - and intake to get at it.

Not hard - - I just replaced my crank sensor last week.
