My car is having an issue with the auto start-stop system. I am driving and the car starts running poorly, maybe misfiring, and I get a message in the instrument cluster stating that there is a problem with the auto start-stop system and is accompanied by the check engine light illuminating. Pulling over, turning the car off, and restarting the
vehicle seems to clear the problem up. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any ideas beyond taking it to the dealership, where they will not be able to diagnose a problem that is not presenting at that moment? Thanks in advance!

Admittedly..I guess I should get both checked...the reason I haven't yet is because the vehicle has exhibited no other symptoms of battery issues. I guess that should be my first step. Will update when I get the batteries checked. Thanks!

for a couple of days on my 17 75th 3.6 no other issues just the warning light. Took it to the dealer. The stop/start battery was bad. The ironic thing I always turn it off when I get my Jeep. Only 29k on it.

Kman, Me too! I wish there was another way to turn it off completely, with out buying the dongle. I will have to get the batteries tested and figure out what exactly I need.

I guess turning it off every time you get in wears the battery out faster lol.

I guess turning it off every time you get in wears the battery out faster lol. I hope not. I disabled mine the day I brought it home 13 months ago by taking the hood switch loose and stuffing it under the mounting bracket. Got where I don't even notice that little "A" light in the bottom left corner of
my instrument cluster.....and the single chime when I first hit 30 mph. Of course I do put the switch back in place when I take it in for service.

I had a constant message saying start / stop not available and it was charging. Jeep is 24 months old with 16000 miles... Both batteries replaced under factory warranty (see work order)

We recommend having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already. If additional assistance is needed during this time, we can connect you with a case specialist.

in place when I take it in for service. Doesn't that also disable your remote start? This is how to disable the Auto Stop Start on the WK2, without disabling the remote start or other features. Some speculate this will also disable smart charging by the charginging system, but the tech doing the how to video checks it and seems to confirm smart charging is still working. It will keep the little Auto Stop/Start warning light that will remain lit on the dash on
you'll get a text warning when you first start up. It is less annoying than the method of disconnecting the hood switch and won't disable remote start. These are $99 modules that you can install and they will remember the last position the Auto Stop/Start switch was in while the vehicle is off and restarted. i.e. you turn off stop/start and it stays off, even if you turn off the vehicle and restart it many times, it doesn't turn on again, unless you switch it on again with the Dash
Switch. And yes, I imagine it is possible the dealer could give you warranty hassles, if they
notice it is installed, at the same time you're adding something that does the electronic equivalent of pressing the button for you each time you start, so they are just as likely to see it as something that doesn't void warranty.

Well I took the vehicle to the dealer and as I assumed, they couldn't find anything wrong. I suppose I will try to source new batteries, install them and see what happens.

Dealer just replaced my auxiliary battery under warranty yesterday. Had the “battery charging” problem. Let’s see how long this new one lasts

update ive been driving for two days under normal varying conditions, including loads of highway driving. Do you think the dealer fixed the problem? Of course not. Now I’ll waste more of my time calling them again and putting it back in the shop.

it still say "Battery Charging" or something else?

90% of start stop issues are batteries. Either the main battery or the aux battery. Sometimes both. There’s no way to tell which is bad unlessyou test them individually with a GR8 tester
