The Yamaha MT-125 is the smaller version of the MT-15, which is sold in India and is now available internationally in new colours. It is available in two mixed colours blue and grey, which are influenced by its larger versions, MT-09 and MT-07. Also, it is available in full black paint in a matte shade, which is similar to the MT-15 from India. A bigger 11-litre fuel tank is being given on the bike as compared to the earlier 10-litre tank. The MT-125's engine has been updated to meet Euro 5 emission norms. A 124cc, single-cylinder engine has been installed on this bike.

This bike is known for its unique headlight, as the headlight of the bike looks like an eye when viewed from the front. The bike is suspended by USD forks at the front and a mono-shock suspension setup at the rear. Disc brakes have been fitted on both the wheels of the bike, which has improved its braking performance.
