Maine Coons are the purrfect family member because of their gentle nature, playful personalities, adaptability to many different environments, and their intelligence. They are intelligent, and so training them to behave and setting boundaries needs done during kitten-hood. My kittens are for pet homes only, please do not ask for breeding rights, because the answer will be NO.My Cattery name has changed from Riggs Maine Coons to Mountain Peak Maine Coons, as I've done a brand revamping to complement where I live now, and due to some personal life changes. All my adults have sweet temperaments, and are DNA Health Tested for Cystinuria; SCL7A9 mutation: c.881A>T, Erythrocyte Pyruvate Kinase (PKD) Deficiency, Factor XII Deficiency, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (MYBPC3 mutation: A31P found in Maine Coon -- HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)/Spinal Muscular Dystrophy, Blood-brain Barrier Dysfunction, MDR1 / ABCB1.All my cats are up to date on their vaccines and are negative for FELV and FIV (cats can't enter the USA without testing negative for FELV and FIV when being imported). All of my kittens are sent home with a Welcome Home Kitten Care Package, first vaccines by my veterinarian and an exam, socialized with our family, litter trained, healthy, and with a Two Year Health Contract. *All Maine Coons in a breeding program should be DNA tested for Congenital HCM, PKD, and SMA. Congenital HCM is a congenital heart defect found in 3 out of every 10 untestedMaine Coons. Do not let any breeder talk you into thinking that their adult cats do not need this DNA test. This DNA test is needed regardless of whether their adult had the ECHO or not. An ECHO can only let you know if there is a current heart issue, an ECHO will not reveal if they carry the gene for HCM, or if they will develop it later in life and pass it to their kittens genetically. Congenital HCM will show up between 1 and 4 years old (on average) and it is not curable. Both parents need to be tested to ensure that the kitten does not have the Congenital HCM gene.
