If you're like us, one step into a housewares store like Bed Bath & Beyond can mean leaving with a bag full of stuff you didn't even realize you needed. And when you get home and question that impulsive throw pillow purchase, it's nice to know that no-questions-asked refunds exist. Show
But next time you go on a shopping spree at Bed Bath & Beyond, make sure you cling to your receipt. ABC News reports that the store will be a little less lenient with its return policy starting April 20. If you've lost your receipt, and the store can't locate your purchase in its system, you'll be awarded a store credit, minus 20% of the item's current selling price. Up until now, Bed Bath & Beyond, allowed customers to return receipt-less items for full-store credit. The new rule feels like a wrist slap, but Racked reports that it's probably in place to discourage abuse of the otherwise generous return policy. More From Good HousekeepingGenerally, the store will be able to look up your transaction history if the item was purchased from a registry or if you bought it with a credit card within 365 days of the return. But if you used cash and have no receipt, you'll be hit with the "20% fine," so to speak. Sounds like it's about time to organize that receipt folder (read: the pile of paper clutter on your desk) once and for all. TELL US: What do you think of the new policy?
