Product fits mattress well. This is used in guest room, no guest yet to note how it feels while sleeping.

I recently upgraded my mattress to a TempurPedic and having spent a terrifying amount of money on a bed I knew I needed to protect it. The protector I used on my previous innerspring mattress was in good shape but totally changed the feel of the TempurPedic. It was not stretchy at all and I didn't sink into the mattress like I should.

So began my search for something new. I scoured review websites and was not surprised to find a wide range of options and opinions on pads and protectors. Nearly everything I found was waterproof, with a layer of plastic material. I knew from the get-go I wanted to avoid this if at all possible, mainly due to the fact that even the best materials and construction cannot fully overcome the fact that a layer of plastic will affect breathability. I tend to sleep hot in all seasons, and I also deal with night sweats, so I want to maintain as breathable a surface as possible.

After a few days of browsing I finally came across this protector and decided to give it a try. It arrived quickly, as expected. I put it on right out of the bag and was immediately impressed by the quality of the materials. It stretched to fit my 12" thick mattress just fine; the top material does not wrap down over the sides of the bed as it appears to in some product photos but does go right to the edge of the sleeping surface. After testing the fit I washed and dried the protector following the instructions on the package. It washed and dried nicely, it did shrink a small amount in the dryer but after putting it back on the bed and giving each side a few good tugs it stretched to fit just fine.

I made the bed as I usually do and have been sleeping on this ever since. I can confirm it is both stretchy and breathable; I have not felt any major difference in sleeping temperature and I certainly sink into the mattress. Sleeping with a protector underneath does feel different than sleeping directly on the mattress, but not in a bad way. This protector adds just a hint of softness under the sheet, it's hard to describe but it feels less "naked" than sleeping directly on the mattress surface. Also, if you've experienced TempurPedic's current mattress covers, they are made of a cool to the touch and very slippery fabric. Sheets slide right off overnight. This protector helps anchor the sheet and they both move together; I added one elastic bed strap across the middle of my queen-sized bed and both sheet and protector have stayed in place just fine since then.

I have not tested the water resistance, but I trust the manufacturer. I don't have kids or pets and I rarely eat or drink in bed, so I'm not worried about big spills, but I do want to keep my night sweats from soaking into the mattress and so far as I can tell this protector does just that, while also adding a touch of softness/padding under the fitted sheet.

Overall: I highly recommend this protector to those who want to keep the feel of their mattress and provide a high-quality, breathable, washable layer of protection underneath the sheets.

I bought this after we purchased a Purple 3 mattress and the Purple mattress protector to protect our sleep investment. The Purple mattress protector was awful, it was noisy and slept incredibly hot, I was miserable and we were about to return the mattress simply because I didn’t want to pay so much for something I couldn’t properly protect. I searched high and low for a mattress protector that would be stretchy enough to allow the mattress to still be able to form to the body, but would also breathe. I still can’t believe I found this protector, it is amazing! It is soft, it allows us to sink into the mattress, it has no sound to it and best of all, it breathes! Granted, it’s not much cheaper than the mattress protector from Purple, and the sewing job was not the best, but I don’t doubt that it will hold up just fine. As far as water resistance goes I cannot speak to that but it is thick, about the thickness of a bath towel I’d say, and that thickness is enough to put me at ease of anything penetrating into/onto the mattress. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a better solution to protect their Purple mattress and I think it would work just as good for memory foam mattresses.

I bought this mattress protector for 2 reasons: it doesn't have a liner and it wraps down the side of the mattress. I do like the material, but the protector is no longer made the way it is pictured, with seams in all 4 corners to bring the protector down the sides of the mattress. It is just flat on top. I contacted the company asking if they changed the design of the protector, with this response: "Depending how thick your mattress is, a little bit of the sides can get covered with the mattress protector. If you have a very tall mattress, it might only be covering the surface mainly and a tiny bit of the sides but not as much as the picture on the Amazon listing. The Mattress Protector is able to cover a 14 inch mattress. The thinner the mattress is, the looser it will be and will go down the sides." I wish they had just admitted that they changed the design, and not for the better. I am debating if I will keep the protector, not happy with companies that don't update pictures when they change the product.

How can I protect my memory foam mattress?

Some mattress manufacturers recommend using a pad or cover to protect a memory foam mattress, noting that conventional mattress pads or covers impede the beneficial qualities of memory foam. Covers made especially for memory foam are a good choice to protect the mattress.

How do you protect a mattress from urine?

Small mattress overlay pads are often the best solution for cutting down on laundry while still absorbing urine and protecting the mattress and bed linens. Overlay pads, or underpads, are great for frequent accidents because they go over the fitted sheet and are intended to absorb urine before it reaches the mattress.

What material is best for waterproof mattress protector?

Cotton terry is a great woven fabric option for waterproof mattress protectors. Not only is it hypoallergenic and breathable, but it can also absorb a lot of water. The brand recommends also buying the regular mattress protector for frequent accidents since it's much easier to clean and take on and off your bed.

Can you put a mattress pad on top of memory foam?

The short answer is yes. You can put a mattress topper on top of a memory foam mattress to adjust your sleeping environment to your liking. The question comes up quite often amongst owners of memory foam mattresses.
