It’s been quite some time since Amazon launched their Fire Tablet. It soon became a loving tablet among parents having young kids. A big screen with their favorite apps on it. But the problem is your child may accidentally purchase something from your tablet, which will undoubtedly be a bummer for you.

I have been using the Amazon Fire Tablet for some time now for my two kids, and they love playing games and watching videos on it. So I took the precaution to lock my tablet before they could make unnecessary purchases or have access to other stuff on my tablet.

3. Scroll down and find Security & Privacy.
4. Go to the option Lock Screen Passcode.

Now you can try pressing the power button and waking up the tablet again, and you will see that it will require a password or PIN to open your Fire Tablet.

Parental Control On Amazon Fire

Now the basic lock is out of the way, we can talk more about how you can control and monitor your kid’s usage of the Fire Tablet. As your young boy may like to play games or watch movies on your tablet, you should be careful as your kids may accidentally buy something online. • Basic parental control allows you to password-protect purchases from Amazon stores on your device, play movies and TV shows from Amazon Prime, connect to WiFi, and enable location services.

How to Turn On Parental Controls

Here are the steps to turn Parental Control on your Amazon Fire Tablet:

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap on Settings. It will look like a cog on the right side of the quick menu bar.
2. Tap on Parental Controls.
3. Tap the switch next to Parental Controls.
4. Enter a password and confirm your password if you did not already.
5. Hit the Finish button.
6. After you turn on parental controls, a lock icon will appear at the top of the screen.

Once you have set the parental control on, you can give the tablet to your toddler to play with.

2. Paid Parental Controls Through Amazon FreeTime Unlimited

Amazon FreeTime Unlimited is a service app that enables you to have further control over your kid’s usage of the tablet. It is worth noting that this service can be purchased on Amazon Fire tablet, Android, iOS and Kindle.

There are additional parental control options, such as limiting the type of content your child can access until they’ve completed daily goals like math problems, reading, etc. and turning itself off at the designated curfew.

You need to purchase a subscription plan from Amazon FreeTime Unlimited to use the app.

Here are the steps to use Amazon FreeTime Unlimited’s parental controls:

1. Open the FreeTime app.
2. Create or select the profile for your child.
3. Select Set Daily Goals & Time Limits and adjust the toggles to choose how long they can spend per day in specific apps.
4. Choose a Turn off by time to prevent your kid from using their tablet after bedtime.
5. Tap Manage your Child’s Content and navigate to Smart Filters to set the age minimum and maximum for the type of content they’re allowed to see.

How to Monitor Child’s Activity

In parental control, there is an additional feature named Monitor This Profile. From there, you can keep an eye on your child’s activity.

To turn this feature on, you need to go to Parental Control, and at the bottom of the option, you will find Monitor This Profile. Tap on the switch beside the option, and it will turn the feature on, showing a Parent And Child icon at the top of the screen.

You can view the information through the Activity Center on the Your Devices tab of Manage Your Content and Devices. There you will see how much time your child has spent on various apps, which books they’ve read, and what content they’ve accessed.

How to Set a Curfew on Your Tablet

By curfew feature, you can further control your child’s tablet usage and keep them away from making a bad habit of using the tablet too much. It allows you to control when your kid can use the tablet.

Here are the steps to set a Curfew feature:

1. Turn on the switch next to Set a Curfew to turn this feature on.
2. Tap on Curfew Schedule to set the time.
3. Choose the days and times that the child will not access the device.
4. Enter your parental controls password to unlock a device in curfew.
