Ahh shit. Here we go again. Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will kick off Phase 4 of the MCU is releasing worldwide on Thursday, July 4. Peter Parker who is still coming to terms with the loss of his mentor, Tony Stark during the fight against Thanos, decides he needs a break from basically being a web-slinging saviour and goes on a trip with his friends to see Europe. But danger looms large as new enemies emerge that force Parker to put on his suit -- as well as try out new ones -- once again, as he tries to save his friends and humanity in general. But this time Peter isn’t alone. Not only does he have help from Nick Fury, but he is also joined by a new arrival in Mysterio. Here’s a quick look at all the newcomers along with everyone who is returning for Spider-Man: Far From Home:
Spider-Man: Far From Home Cast: Who plays whom in the latest Marvel movie?
1. Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-man
Tom Holland who first played the role of Spiderman back in 2016 in Captain America: Civil War, comes back for what will be his fifth movie in the MCU. But a lot has happened in between, including a few universe-altering snaps. The movie will see Spiderman who is grieving the loss of Tony Stark and decides to break free from the Superhero life as he goes on a Eurotrip. But that’s when he gets drafted in to take on a huge threat.
2. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury
The former Head of SHIELD who was one of the many people who disappeared as a result of Thanos' snap now joins hands with Peter Parker to save the planet. Jackson had last reprised his role as Fury in the Captain Marvel movie which released earlier this year.
3. Zendaya as Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones
Zendaya returns as Peter’s sarcastic classmate who we last saw in Homecoming. There were a few sparks between them which we expect to see blossom in the second movie. Michelle Jones is a rehashed version of Peter Parker’s love interest from the comics, Mary Jane Watson.
4. Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill
The former How I Met Your Mother star, Cobie Smulders comes back to play SHIELD agent, Maria Hill. Although we last caught a glimpse of her in Avengers: Endgame, she is expected to have a much bigger role in Spiderman: Far From Home.
5. Marisa Tomei as Aunt May
Oscar winning-actress, Marisa Tomei returns as Aunt May who now knows Peter Parker’s secret and looks, from the trailers, like an active member of Peter’s entourage. She was last seen in Avengers: Endgame in a brief cameo.
6. Jacob Batalon as Ned
Peter’s best friend Ned who helped Spiderman in Homecoming is back as he joins Peter Parker on a trip to Europe. We see him at least crossing paths with Nick Fury and believe he will have a significant role to play in the movie.
7. Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck/Mysterio
One of the biggest names in Hollywood is also the newest member of the MCU as Jake Gyllenhal gets set to play Mysterio, who is an expert on Elementals -- the movie’s main antagonist.
8. Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan
We've all seen him as Tony Stark’s assistant since Ironman, back in 2008. Happy was last seen in Avengers Endgame where he promised Morgan Stark as many hamburgers as she wanted in a touching epilogue after Tony’s death. Happy will now be seen helping Peter Parker and Nick Fury as they take on the evil forces who are a threat to the world.
9. Martin Starr as Mr. Harrington
Silicon Valley actor Martin Starr returns to his role of Mr. Harrington who is Peter Parker’s decathlon teacher and is also a chaperone for Parker and his friends during their trip to Europe.
