Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina — which is streaming now — is based on the comic of the same name, and therefore, differs greatly from the '90s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch. For starters, Kiernan Shipka plays Sabrina in the new series, a role that was first played by Melissa Joan Hart.

The Spellman House

Sabrina lives with her aunts in both shows, but in Chilling Adventures, the house is more than a home — it's the Spellman Mortuary. Chilling Adventures also takes place in Greendale, while Sabrina the Teenage Witch existed in a fictional Boston suburb called Westbridge.

Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto take on the roles once played by Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, and in this iteration, they work at the mortuary. Additionally, Sabrina's parents are dead in the reboot, whereas her parents would occasionally visit Sabrina in the sitcom.

Sabrina's human boyfriend exists in both shows, though Chilling Adventures of Sabrina follows Harvey home much more than the sitcom ever did. This time around, Harvey works in the mines with his family and has a few crazy experiences of his own.

Academy of Unseen Arts

In Chilling Adventures, Sabrina attends two schools instead of one, splitting her time between a normal human high school and the Academy of the Unseen Arts, where she learns about magic.

Chilling Adventures adds The Weird Sisters, best known as the mean girls of The Academy of Unseen Arts, Sabrina's witch school.

Becoming a witch is much darker in Chilling Adventures. In order to join the Church of Night, a witch has to sign her soul over to the Dark Lord, none of which existed in the '90s show.

Where Chilling Adventures has Rosalind and Susie, Sabrina's best friends, the original also had a handful of mortals who attended school with Sabrina, including Valerie, her friend, and Libby, her enemy (to name a few).

Salem vs. Salem

Sabrina the Teenage Witch featured Salem, the snarky talking cat. In Chilling Adventures, Sabrina does find her familiar in Salem, but only she can understand what he's saying whenever he meows.

It's the end of the line for our favorite teenage witch as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, unfortunately, comes to an end. While fans have absolutely loved watching the series on Netflix over the past four seasons, the show will not be making a big return for another part. But why isn't Chilling Adventures of Sabrina coming back for season five?

The series was cancelled before part four was officially released.

"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One," said showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to TVLine. "The cast, beginning with Kiernan [Shipka] as everyone's favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four."

While the adventure might be ending on-screen, that doesn't mean that Sabrina's story is completely over. After announcing that the show would be coming to an end, Roberto officially revealed that the fifth season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be coming in comic book form.

Part five, called Witch War, will also see the big Riverdale/CAOS crossover fans have been waiting a long time for.

"Thank you for all the love, #sabrinanetflix fans. Part Four is our best yet and Part Five, 'Witch War,' would’ve been AMAZING. To be continued in the pages of #CAOS comic book," he wrote on Twitter.
