An easy recipe for grilled corn on the cob in foil! This is a simple, fresh side dish for fresh corn on the grill.

I was raised a meat and potatoes girl in Central Missouri. Or to be more accurate, meat, potatoes and corn like this grilled corn on the cob in foil!

My Dad had a large garden on about an acre by our house, and he grew sweet corn for us each year.

I spent a lot of time shucking corn and helping cut it off the cob as a little girl, but it was always so worth it. We had fresh, amazing corn year-round, but we never grilled corn on the cob in foil.

How Long to Grill Corn on the Cob in Foil

Your length of time will vary a bit based on how hot the grill is and where the corn is placed in relation to the other items on the grill.

I recommend grilling the corn for about 20 minutes directly over high heat.

You can also place the corn around the corners of the grill but remember to add another 5-10 minutes to the cook time since this part of the grill is not as hot.

Tips for Grilling Corn

  • Be sure to flip the corn about halfway through the cook time since you are cooking over a direct heat source.
  • And, be careful when removing the foil from the corn!
  • You may want to wear oven mitts to do this, as steam will be released from the foil packet. The corn will be HOT!
  • If you choose to skip the foil, grill the corn over indirect heat to avoid it from charring too much.

How do you grill corn on the cob with foil in the husk?

Close husks over corn. Wrap each ear of corn tightly in aluminum foil. Place onto prepared grill. Cook, turning occasionally, 30-32 minutes or until corn is tender.

How long does corn take on the grill?

Place the corn on the grill, close the cover and grill for 15 to 20 minutes, turning every 5 minutes, or until kernels are tender when pierced with a paring knife. Remove the husks and eat on the cob or remove the kernels. Serve with the BBQ Butter and/or Herb Butter.

Can you put aluminum foil on a grill?

This is a major NO-NO. Laying the foil on the grates can restrict the intended air flow inside the grill, which could lead to damage of the internal components, not to mention create a dangerous situation.
