2022 Hyundai Palisade vs. 2022 Kia Telluride trims

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade offers a lot of optional high-tech features and a stately appearance. Edmunds reviewed the four trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy.

The top Calligraphy trim gets an exclusive front grille and bumper. The base model comes standard with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is optional on any trim.

The Palisade offers standard safety features including blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and more. Some models come with a sunroof and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Edmunds also looked into the 2022 Kia Telluride, which has a rugged and boxy exterior style. It comes in LX, S, EX, and SX trim levels. The Nightfall package adds a black-painted exterior trim and 20-inch black alloy wheels.

The base model gets 18-inch wheels and standard front-wheel drive. You also get standard driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring.

Tech and interior features

The Palisade offers an elegant interior and comes standard with an 8-inch touch screen along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has an eight-passenger seating capacity, with a power-folding second row.

Edmunds recommends the SEL trim which is one level up from the base model and adds heated front seats and keyless entry. The Limited trim gives you ventilated front and rear seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, and a digital instrument panel.

The Telluride comes with an impressive number of standard features, like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, keyless entry, and a six-speaker audio system.

The EX trim adds woodgrain interior accents. The top-level SX offers parking sensors, a driver’s seat with memory settings, Harman Kardon stereo system, and a 7-inch color display in the instrument cluster.

Which SUV should you get?

The Kia Telluride has a long list of standard features and offers great value. It’s spacious and perfect for larger families. The vehicle uses high-quality materials and looks good without sacrificing comfort.

The Hyundai Palisade has a more luxurious feel. It’s comfortable and offers several standard features. The Palisade also has generous trunk space for shopping or luggage.

The Palisade is big, good selling, SUV that earns top marks for its luxury, smoothness, and power. It starts at $33,350, and all-wheel-drive is optional. It can seat up to eight people.

While the Telluride is more angular, and has styling more like a Range Rover, the Palisade looks more like it competes with SUVs like the Honda Pilot or GMC Acadia.

Consumer Reports gives the Hyundai a total of score of 87, which is great, but not as good as the Telluride’s. Though it’s the same SUV, the predicted reliability of the Palisade as well as predicted owner satisfaction scores are one tick lower than the Kia’s.

The only beefs that Consumer Reports have about the Palisade, however, are that the touchscreen is far from the driver and the gear selector is confusing to use at first.

The Hyundai can be ordered in the ulta-lux Calligraphy package that features lots of chrome accents, a dual-panel sunroof, LED taillights and quilted leather seats.

While both SUVs can seat eight, only the Hyundai can be ordered with a power third row seat.

Consumer Reports gives the Telluride a stellar score of 97, and praised the SUV for its predicted reliability, owner satisfaction and room. It’s a large SUV and was dinged a bit for its agility. Overall, it’s a sales hit that seems to hit the mark with American consumers.

The Telluride can come in an eight-passenger version, which comes with a bench seat in back. A seven-passenger version is also available that has second-row captains chairs.

The Telluride’s styling is a bit more urban-warrior than the Hyundai’s. It seems to be styled to appeal more to the Ikea set than the Palisade’s traditional wood-and-chrome look. For example, the Telluride can be ordered in a “murdered out,” or all-black version, called the Night Sky.

It comes in four trims. While front wheel drive is standard, AWD is optional.
