Good places to have drinks near me

Tanjong Pagar is usually the place you’d head to if you need a Korean cuisine fix, given how populated the area has become since the Hallyu wave. The trendy neighbourhood is also home to some of Singapore’s top-notch restaurants and bars, making it an easy destination for a date, an after-work hangout, or a special occasion. If you already work there, count yourself fortunate.

But for those visiting Tanjong Pagar and aren’t familiar with its offerings, we’ve compiled this guide to sort your thirst out.

Before venturing into the neighbourhood, we’ve got two more bar guides on the streets the area hugs, namely Telok Ayer, Ann Siang Hill and Club Street. If none of these places appeal, we’ve got you covered should you want to sample some of Singapore’s best cocktails, or try out the new entrants in our bar scene this August.

Crackerjack

Good places to have drinks near me

Crackerjack’s an all-day destination that showcases the ingenuity of award-winning bartenders Peter Chua and Zachary de Git. Expect drinks like a Riesling slushie, a mezcal negroni, and highballs available all day long to indulge in, and try your hand at its shuffleboard while you’re at it. The place also serves quality, American diner-inspired dishes with a healthy spin like quinoa fried chicken, so you’ll feel less guilt for downing the liquid calories.

Junior

Good places to have drinks near me

Junior is Crackerjack’s new sibling – a conceptual pocket bar situated just behind the main establishment. It’s definitely hidden from view, but, as the bartenders take great care to emphasise, is not a speakeasy. The menu changes every six months, but right now, it’s all about agave-based spirits. Think quality mezcal, tequila, and raicilla-based cocktails and flights for days. The bar only seats 10, with barely any standing room, so visit early.

Jekyll & Hyde

Good places to have drinks near me

Jekyll & Hyde’s a veteran in the local bar scene, having been here right at the start of the bespoke cocktail boom. The menu itself follows the concept of nice and naughty (what do you expect with a name like that?), but to really revel in all it has to offer, order a custom cocktail. You won’t regret it.

Order some Euro-fusion bites to go with your bottle, or have some sake cocktails if you don’t fancy the liquor neat.

Tippling Club

Good places to have drinks near me

It’s not a bar guide to Tanjong Pagar without a mention of Tippling Club. The award-winning bar’s a fixture on many renowned rankings, including the recent Asia’s 50 Best. Go there and enjoy cocktails like you’ve never had them, engineered by the genius of Joe Schofield. The place has even got negronis aged with ultrasound technology there. ‘Nuff said.
