It's almost become a staple for the kick-off of summer in Genesee County, and this year is looking bigger and better than ever. The Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest is back with a weekend filled with family fun & entertainment.

Downtown Grand Blanc is set to come alive starting Thursday as the rides, games, and concessions as the Grand Blanc Chamber Family Fun Fest officially kicks off at 5 pm. The high school parking lot has been a buzz with preparations since the rides arrived early in the week.

This year festival-goers will enjoy rides, delicious carnival concessions, games, a wide variety of vendors, a rock-climbing wall, and more. There will also be a special Celebrity Dunk Tank on Saturday. Friday night will also feature a huge fireworks display at 10 pm for all to enjoy.

"This year is bigger and better than ever, and we've taken extra precautions to make everyone's safety is at the forefront, and everyone has a good time. Coming back from COVID and have the carnival bring all the big rides back with the concessions will make this a fantastic event", Grand Blanc Chamber President Leigh LaForest told us.

Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest hours will be;

  • Thursday, June 16th: 5:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Friday, June 17th: 12:00pm to 11:00pm (Fireworks at 10:00pm)
    (1st ride session 12pm-5pm, 2nd ride session 5pm-11pm)
  • Saturday, June 18th: 12:00pm to 11:00pm
    (1st ride session 12pm-5pm, 2nd ride session 5pm-11pm)
  • Sunday, June 19th: 12:00pm to 7:00pm

Wristbands for a session are $30 each and cover all rides. An adult must accompany anyone under 18 after 8 pm.

In addition to the carnival festivities, Church of the Holy Family will be hosting a Summer Fest and Color Run in conjunction with the Family Fun Fest. The Color Run will take place Saturday, June 18th, starting at 10:00 am at Holy Family and you can register through June 16th by clicking here. 

Then, Friday and Saturday nights will come alive with music for the Summer Fest Tent featuring live entertainment, adult beverages, and food. The tent opens each night at 5 pm with a $5 cover charge. The schedule for the tent is;

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce will bring four days of family fun to the city when the annual Family Fun Fest takes place Thursday, June 16, through Sunday, June 19, at Grand Blanc High School.

“It’s an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate summer,” said chamber President Leigh LaForest. “It also brings people in to the community.”

The hallmark of the festivities will be the Arnolds Amusements carnival.

Advance tickets are on sale through June 10 at the chamber office, 512 E. Grand Blanc Road. Purchases are cash only. Single session tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 on site. Mega bands for the entire weekend of rides are $75 at the chamber office or $100 on site.

A Special Day for Special Needs event will take place by invitation only from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Additional attractions include face painting and vendors. The U.S. Army will be on hand with their rock climbing wall.

And, there will be a celebrity dunk tank to raise money for the chamber’s scholarship program. Several City of Grand Blanc and Grand Blanc Township police officers have already agreed to get dunked. The dunk tank will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Festival hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 16; noon to 11 p.m. Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18 (first session for carnival rides is noon to 5 p.m.; second session 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.); and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19.

Fireworks are planned for 10 p.m. Friday.

Event sponsors include Rock Bottom Stone Supply, Capitol Roofing Authority, Dort Financial Credit Union, ELGA Credit Union, Goyette Mechanical, Genisys Credit Union, Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Care Network of Michigan, Mott Community College, Randy Wise Automotive Team and Grand Blanc View.

In conjunction with Family Fun Fest, Holy Family church will host several events including Trivia Night at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the Father Bush Parish Center. Tickets cost $20.

The annual Color Fun Run presented by ELGA Credit Union is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at the parish center.

The entertainment tent will open at 5 p.m. Friday, June 17, with Tom Curless & The 46 % performing at 5:30 p.m. and Taylor Tucky performing from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The entertainment is presented by Al Serra Auto Plaza.

On Saturday, June 18, the tent opens at 5 p.m. with Dan MacLachlan taking the stage followed by The Ones and Twos from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The entertainment is sponsored by ELGA Credit Union.

There is a $5 cover charge. Entertainment tent is open to guests 21 years old and older only after 8 p.m.

Family Fun Fest, a summertime tradition for more than a decade, attracts 30,000 to 45,000 people every year.

“We want to make sure we’re providing safe, fun entertainment for the whole family,” LaForest said.
