alio40 said: 2001 5-speed with 200,000 kms Seriously?!! I haven't heard of a Rio getting that kind of mileage and longevity.....I hope mine gets that..... Currently 88,000km on my 2001 Rio.....timing belt to be replaced before the summers out or 90,000km. Mine has been a great car so far,
but one can't help but believe the lack of quality these vehicles have after reading various consumer reviews and this forum!!! Seems like the timing belts and misc. electrical issues plague these vehicles... Joined Jun 24, 2006 · 31 Posts Joined Mar 14, 2006 · 73 Posts Joined May 6, 2006 · 23 Posts

02 cinco 5 speed with 76,000K on the clock... Over the past 2 months I have replaced the Timing & Accessory belts, Idler Pulley, Water pump, thermostat, battery, Altnator, all 4 shocks, front pads & roters, Rear shoes & drums, Clutch, Throw out bering, all 4 tires and flushed the radiator. The AC creats a "musty smell" so when i
have the time i'll pull that apart and probally recharge the coolent while I'm at it. I also get a loud "Thud" when i turn the wheel all the way to the left, so I'm wondering if the CV joint is on the way out... 04 Rio POS, 93 WRX STi coming soon, 90 Jetta Joined Oct 1, 2006 · 8 Posts
about 78,100kms on the 04. So far, needed the fuel rail changed; about 3 MAF sensors, a timing belt, throttle sensor, shocks, the rear latch system, and right now she is hesitating like a biatch, as well as there is a small tranny leak, and the drivers door is kinds screwed. 2004 Kia Rio 2011 Kia Sorento LX V6 AWD Joined Feb 17, 2006 · 806 Posts

Where in Canada are you?.. Have you changed the fuel filter yet and maybe a set of plugs.. That should stop the hesitation.. I am in Edmonton AB, and yep, both have been changed fairly recently. It is usually a sensor thats gone, or at least thats what the dealership is trying to tell me; so really who knows. Joined Oct 11, 2006 · 1 Posts

'02 Rio with 76k miles (I'm the 3rd owner)... but I should say it "had 76k miles", because the car's effectively useless since the engine locked up a few days ago. Needless to say I'm not especially happy, probably have to file bankruptcy with the amount I owe I on it. However, when I do buy another car it will most definitely be a Honda.
Fuckin' Kia and their lemons on wheels... ironically my Rio's in lime green, more like Lemon green. Joined Nov 17, 2005 · 140 Posts
racergirl: had thesame problem, 02 rio rxv with 71500 kms. rebuilt tranny due to small leak(its covered under warranty if you take it in right away), actually, Kia has virtually rebuilt my car under warranty, except the engine which is as smooth as a swiss watch. trans, ps, axles, hubs, wheel bearings, plug wires, fuel rail, etc.etc., but who cares, its all
paid for by Kia, even when I pay for something, I'm such a good customer at the dealer, they give me 15% off parts and 10% off labor, or vice versa, I can never remember. I'm not bragging, but I've had it in for so many repairs, I'm actually they're number one service client, and now they have started giving me Kia branded gifts like flashlight sets, travel bags, etc. I think its a really funny way to earn presents, but whose going to complain? Racergirl: if you keep having the same sensor blow repeatedly. take apart the black electrical box beside the battery and take apart the 3 multi pin connectors, use a flashlight and look for whitish, greenish corrosion. Its hard to see, but if its there, thats the reason you keep blowing sensors. the sensors are fine, its the corrosion in the black box that is
causing the computer to think sensors are blowing. mine did this a lot, 4 speed sensors in a 3 week period. however, once I discovered the real problem, I haven't had a check engine light or anything for almost a year. scrape the corrosion out completely, and use di-electric grease on the terminals and re assemble. problem should be solved permanently after that. good luck Joined Sep 21, 2006 · 3 Posts

2003 Kia Rio Cinco with 115k miles. Very little problems. I had to change 1 crank position sensor, radiator fan, and a cold start issue that was fixed with a dealer ECU reflash. Thats it. It's the most reliable car i've owned. How many miles can a Kia Rio get?Compare Side-by-Side. Is a Kia Rio a reliable car?Is the Kia Rio Reliable? The Kia Rio has gotten excellent scores for its overall reliability. RepairPal gave the sedan a score of 4.5 out of 5.0. This means that an owner of the Kia Rio will pay less on repairs per year on average and will have fewer trips to the mechanic.
How many miles will a Kia last?On average, a Kia can last about 200,000 miles. Keeping up with regular maintenance is one of the best ways to ensure any vehicle's longevity, and that rule holds true for your Kia.
Will a Kia last as long as a Toyota?Yes, Kias are known for lasting as long as other reliable vehicles like Hondas, Toyotas, and Hyundais. The automaker's powertrain warranty lasts up to 100,000 miles, but many drivers own their Kias far beyond that milestone.
