How to make your tiktok liked videos private

TikTok is plenty of fun, whether you simply scroll through other people’s videos or create your own.

There are filters to try, duets to be recorded, and you can save any clips you want to keep on your phone.

Be careful, though, as there’s a feature which allows people to see who has been combing through their posts (though, thankfully, it can be switched off easily.)

One of many features, similar to other social media platforms, is the option to ‘like’ videos made by other content creators. But anyone following you or visiting your profile can see what videos you’ve liked.

If you’d rather keep these videos hidden, here’s how to make sure only you can see them.

How to hide your liked videos on TikTok

If you want your liked videos to be ‘hidden’ – i.e. seen by only you – there’s a way to set that up.

Head to ‘Settings and Privacy’ – and under ‘Account’, click on ‘Privacy’.

Once you’re in ‘Privacy’, you’ll need to click on ‘Safety’, then ‘Liked Videos’ and select ‘Only Me’.

That way, your followers can no longer sit and watch through everything you’ve liked.

Finally, when back on your TikTok profile, you’ll see that the heart symbol representing your liked videos should have a little line symbol on it, meaning they’re no longer visible.

If you’re looking to find out where your liked videos are kept, just look for the heart symbol.

TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms of 2021, with trends manifesting themselves in video form being regularly posted onto the app. But, just how can you protect your privacy and hide your likes on TikTok?

There are a variety of reasons why a user would want to hide likes on TikTok, be they personal or professional, but help is at hand with a handy privacy setting included in the latest version of the app.

How does hiding TikTok likes work?

If you've used TikTok for a while, then you will have probably accumulated quite a few likes on quite a few videos, often in order to save them for later to show a friend.

Liking videos is a way to inform the creator that you appreciated their content, as well as helping the in-application algorithm determine what kind of content you wish to see in the future.

There is a setting, though, that allows you to control who can see what videos you've liked.

How do I hide my TikTok likes?

1. In your TikTok app, move to your profile by tapping 'me' in the bottom right corner of the screen.
2. Tap the three dots icon in the top right corner.
3. In your settings, tap 'privacy'.
4. Scroll down to the 'safety' section and find where it says liked videos.
5. On the next screen you'll have the option to choose either everyone or only me.
6. To make your liked videos private, select the 'only me' option.

Can I still see my own likes?

Yes. In order to see the list of videos you've liked after you've made your settings private, you must click on 'me' in the bottom right corner and then click on the heart logo at the top of the screen.

If this heart has an eye with a line through it, you have successfully enabled privacy mode, but you just need to click on that heart and it will take you to your own liked videos.
