Its hard to breathe but thats alright lyrics

Cradles Lyrics

I live inside my own world of make-believe
Kids screaming in their cradles, profanities
I see the world through eyes covered in ink and bleach
Cross out the ones who heard my cries and watched me weep
I love everything
Fire spreading all...

He said himself that the lyrics, "Cross out the ones who heard my cries and watched me weep.." where.. his friends couldn't even talk to him.. where he was alone in school.. they couldn't even recognize him and he'd think it was okay. He also said, "I love everything, Fire's spreading all around my room" where there would be fire... but you wouldn't even realize it.. And THEN he had said in the lyrics, "Tape my eyes open to force reality (oh no, no)" where people would try to get him to see reality when he didn't want to.. where he could anything he wanted to.

I think this a song thats about a guy with some sort of mental illness (thats ok though!) who's in some sort of daydream he thinks is reality. And about not wanting people to see his weaknesses ('cross out the ones who heard my cries and watched me weep'). Its certainly a song open to debate. Don't we all live inside our own world of make-believe?

I think that this song has something to do with his past... it's obvious something depressing had happened. I think something had to do with a fire.. but in the lyrics.. it seems like he was always.. alone? Maybe he lost his parents as a kid and was always depressed about it. He doesn't want to look at reality the same way he did when he had his parents. I know.. for a fact.. he is suffering according to the lyrics. He obviously likes the pain..

I think that the song is describing his mental illness as a kid that he has which is like a illness where he is trapped in his imagination and can't or doesn't want to see the reality.

The "I live inside my own world of make-believe," made me think that the real world doesn't care about him, so he lives inside his own world (the music video also shows a pretend mother next to his bed, which makes me think the real world has abandoned him). The "Some days I feel skinnier than the other days," made me think that he's been going over some mental and physical abuse. I have only four words and it sums up this whole explanation: This Boy Needs Help.

This song is about a child who suffered horrific abuse. Sexual too. He closed his head to hide. He lived in his mind to escape what was being done to his body. His body did not feel like his own anymore. This pain is all he knows so he says “that’s alright”.

I think the song is about a person suffering from psychosis/schizophrenia. The first line in the song is “I live in my own world of make-believe” and that’s literally what psychosis is . It’s a disconnect from reality.the line “I see the world with eyes covered in ink and bleach” also supports the idea that he doesn’t see reality for what it is. The song also implies that people ignored his pain and suffering and just let him be hence “the ones that heard my cries and watched me weep”. The lines “ I love every thing” and “it’s hard to breathe but that’s alright” probably is him trying to reassure those who are trying to help, such as family, friends, and doctors that everything is fine, but the fire spreading in his room shows that he isn’t alright. I suffer from psychosis/ schizophrenia myself And like 90% of the things that he describes Happening to him or the character in the song I can relate to or has happened to me.

  9. Honestly,
I believe that he was probably neglected or he went through some form of trauma as a child and was forced too take meds and told to basically like suck it up ...."I love everything"...but he says it with such a straight face as if it'a forced response to his depression... Also I don't know much at all of this artist but I feel like maybe he grew up in a wealthy family who didn't really know how to handle mental illness and that's why he shuts everyone out/creates his own custom reality either because he's surpressing his feelings or has been told to "suck it up".. so he makes his own state of reality but falls deep into it, and doesn't really understand now which is which. I dunno . I heard this song a few Times, I like it its got a much deeper meaning then I could ever try to begin to explain lol

this song was really hard for me to figure out what its about but after looking at the lyrics for some time i figured it out. i think its either about a guy who maybe lost his parents in maybe like a fire or something and he's depressed, or a dead person who's life was horrible.
