Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly... with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly... with his song

Hi, yo yea yea. now this is wyclef refugee
el boogie up in here (doo dooo doo doo)
one time one time one time
hey yo L you know you got the lyrics!

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him, and listen for a while
And there he was, this young boy, a stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers (one time, one time)
Singing my life with his words (two time, two time)
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly... with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly... with his song

I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters, and read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish, but he just kept right on

Strumming my pain with his fingers (one time, one time)
Singing my life with his words (two time, two time)
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly... with his song
Telling my whole life with his words (whole life)
Killing me softly... with his song

Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly... with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly... with his song
strummin my pain. yeyeyeyeye

He sang it as he knew me in all my dark despair
and then he looked right through me as if I wasn't there.
But he was there this stranger singing clear and strong.

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
singing my life with his words,
killing me softly with his song,
killing me softly with his song,
telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song.

He was strumming there,
yea, he was singing my life.

Killing me softly with his song,
telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song

Fugees

Fugees (/ˈfuːdʒiːz/) (formerly Tranzlator Crew) were an American hip hop group who rose to fame in the mid-1990s. Their repertoire included elements of hip hop, soul and Caribbean music, particularly reggae. The members of the group were rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean, rapper/singer/producer Lauryn Hill and rapper Pras Michel. Deriving their name from the term refugee, Jean and Pras are Haitian, while Hill is American. The group recorded two albums—one of which, The Score (1996), was a multi-platinum and Grammy-winning success—before disbanding in 1997. Hill and Jean each went on to successful solo recording careers; Michel focused on soundtrack recordings and acting, though he found commercial success with his song "Ghetto Supastar". In 2007, MTV ranked … more »

What do the lyrics to Killing Me Softly mean?

And as such “his song”, i.e. his music, is “killing (her) softly”. All lyrics considered, what that analogy reads like is as if he is gradually breaking down her emotional barriers, one by one. And he is doing so via his music, even though he is not intentionally setting out to do so per se.

What song was Killing Me Softly written about?

McLean's only lasting contribution is to have inspired Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel to write ''Killing Me Softly With His Song,'' a song made popular by Roberta Flack. In fact, the inspiration came from a young singer named Lori Lieberman, who saw Mr. McLean perform at a club in Los Angeles.

Did Lauryn Hill sample Killing Me Softly?

While it samples vocals from “Killing Me Softly With His Song” from the Fugees' last studio album The Score, the Brooklyn MC also borrows the cadence of the chorus from Hill's “Lost Ones” for the repetitious hook “You might have had some, but you need a real one.”

Who sang the original version of Killing Me Softly?

In 1973, just as folk and soul were becoming more romantic and intimate, Roberta Flack released “Killing Me Softly With His Song.” Inspired by singer Lori Lieberman's original a year earlier, Ms. Flack's recording for Atlantic Records went to No. 1 for five weeks on Billboard's pop chart.
