Reeses peanut butter chocolate cookies recipe on back of package

"These are not P.B. cookies with choc. chips, or chocolate cookies with P.B. chips. These are the original Reese's P.B. chip cookies that they used to print on the back of the bag. They don't print this recipe anymore, but it has been my favorite since childhood. They are a traditional cookie with P.B. chips...Delicious! A great alternative to choc. chip cookies for those who don't like chocolate or want something different."

    2. Quick question...is this a high altitude recipe? I'm asking because 1st batch 2/3's of dough came out flat. When I added 1/4 C more flour to the remaining 1/3 batch. They still flat just not as flat. I used butter as instructed. Here's a pic of the 2 batches, side by side. The batch on right is 1st, on left is 2nd

What makes cookies stay soft and chewy?

Baking at 375 degrees F as opposed to a lower temperature will help cookies stay soft: they'll bake faster which means they aren't in the hot, drying air of the oven too long. Pull the cookie sheet out of the oven when the cookies are just set: underbaking is better than overbaking.

How do you keep peanut butter cookies from going flat?

Use a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Coating your baking sheet with nonstick spray or butter creates an overly greasy foundation, causing the cookies to spread. I always recommend a silicone baking mat because they grip onto the bottom of your cookie dough, preventing the cookies from spreading too much.

What is the secret to good cookies?

Don't over-mix the cookie dough. Cream the butter and sugar for only as long as you need to– a recipe usually specifies the amount of time. Don't begin beating then leave the room with the mixer running. Whipping too much air into the dough will cause your cookies to collapse as they bake.
