Samsung jet 70 vs dyson v8

Hi

Looking to buy a cordless vacuum for a fairly small apartment (725 sqft) with a mix of low pile carpet and hard wood floors. Have narrowed it down to a few options, all of which are on sale at the moment or have employer discounts:

Dyson V8 Animal (£160) - have used this model in the past and generally fairly happy, although lack of fluffy head is a downside compared to the others

Samsung Jet 70 Complete (£160) - includes a fluffy head, looks easier to clean and anecdotally seems pretty good, although hard to find reviews and direct comparisons to the Dysons online

Dyson v10 Absolute (£270) - the most expensive option, but potentially worth it? The wide range of attachments and 'point and shoot' bin emptying do appeal.

Any advice appreciated!

When you’re deciding to invest in a high quality cordless vacuum you definitely need to do your research. There are so many different brands on the market, it’s hard to know which one will give you the best value and features for the price….and a good cordless vacuum isn’t cheap!

Today I’m reviewing my new Samsung Jet 90 vacuum and comparing it to my Dyson v8/v11 Animal cordless vacuum.

I’ve had the Dyson v8 Animal cordless vacuum for 3 years. It works well and I’ve been happy with it. There are a few things I don’t like about it including the battery life (I think the battery must degrade with time), the fact that it doesn’t stand on its own and that you have to press the “on” button the entire time you are vacuuming.

In comparison, my new Samsung Jet 90, which I’ve had for a week now (and use multiple times a day), seems to have much better battery life. The product description says that it can last up to an hour. I haven’t used it consecutively for that long yet, but I have been able to vacuum my whole house on one charge. That’s something I couldn’t do with the Dyson.

The Samsung Jet vacuum also allows you to turn the power on and off without have to hold a button down. It has three different speeds/suction levels as well, while the Dyson only has two.

One of my favorite things about the Samsung Jet 90 is the dual charging station it comes with. The charging station allows you to charge two of the removable batteries used by the vacuum at the same time…so you’ll never be caught with a dead vacuum! This happened to me often with my Dyson. I also love that it stores the vacuum upright and doesn’t have to be wall mounted. I don’t have a great place to mount the Dyson on the wall, so I love that I can put the charging station wherever there’s an outlet! And even move it around the house if I wanted.

Another bonus about the Jet 90 cordless vacuum is all the additional accessories offered at Samsung.com. For example, there is a spinning sweeper brush attachment that also works as a wet mop! I can’t wait to try this feature! Samsung also offers a Clean Station, which is their high tech dustbin debris removal system.

No more plume of dust being released back into the air when emptying the vacuum dustbin! The Clean Station uses special technology which actually shakes off all excess dust from your dustbin as it sucks up all the debris. Check out all the accessories available for the Jet 90 vacuum here!

The Samsung Jet 90 cordless vacuum retails for around $650. It is comparable to the Dyson V11 Animal cordless vacuum which also costs about $600. This is the updated version of my Dyson animal vacuum from 2018. The Dyson 11 differs from the Jet 90 in several ways. First, the Jet 90 is lighter and also had a higher dustbin capacity. The Jet 90 also has a higher suction power at 200 AW compared to the Dyson’s 180 AW. With price being equal, I would definitely chose the Samsung over the Dyson for all the reasons I listed above!

If you’re looking to try out the Samsung Jet cordless vacuum, but don’t want to spend that much, there are other models of the Jet vacuum that are tiered in price. See a quick description of some of the other models below:

Samsung Jet 75:

The Samsung Jet 75 is basically the same vacuum as the Jet 90 with 3 differences, the wand, the charger, and the price. The wand for the Jet 90 is telescoping while the Jet 75 is fixed. The Jet 75 only has ability to charge a single battery at a time and is a wall mount versus a free standing charging station. And lastly the Jet 75 retails around $500 compared to the $650 Jet 90.

Samsung Jet 70:

The Samsung Jet 70 has the same differences from the 90 as the 75, with a few other additional limitations or differences. First, the Jet 70 has up to 40 minutes of battery life as compared to up to 60 with the Jet 90. Additionally, the Jet 70 has less suction power 150AW compared to 200AW  with both the Jet 75 and 90 models. The Jet 70 is still a great option and a more affordable price, retailing around $350 (currently on sale for $300).

Samsung Jet 65:

The Samsung Jet 60 Pet cordless vacuum is basically the same as the Jet 70, it just is gold in color. It retails for around $329.

Is there anything better than a Dyson?

Shark upright vacuums are the best alternative to Dyson because, like Dyson, they focus on ease of use and flexibility. They aren't cheap, but they're less expensive than Dyson upright models.

Is Dyson V8 more powerful than V7?

The primary difference between the V7 and V8 is suction power and battery life. The Dyson V8's more powerful motor can generate 115 AW of suction, while the V7 generates 100 AW of suction. Additionally, the V8 can run for up to 40 minutes compared to the V7, which runs for 30 minutes.

Does Dyson V8 have good suction?

Despite originally launching way back in 2016, it still offers great performance, with good suction and 40 minutes of battery life on its standard setting.

What is Dyson's most powerful vacuum?

Ideal for Pet Owners. The Ball Animal 2 is Dyson's most powerful vacuum—three times more powerful than the V7. Upright corded vacuums are the strongest performers, but you can't convert them into hand vacs as you can with stick vacs.
