REQUIRES THE v1.03 OR HIGHER PATCH TO UNLOCK PROPERLY

Base Game Areas:

Bikini Bottom:

Patrick:

Patrick needs 80 socks to award you eight spatulas. See the rest of this guide for info.

Golden Spatula #1: 10 socks.
Golden Spatula #2: 20 socks.
Golden Spatula #3: 30 socks.
Golden Spatula #4: 40 socks.
Golden Spatula #5: 50 socks.
Golden Spatula #6: 60 socks.
Golden Spatula #7: 70 socks.
Golden Spatula #8: 80 socks.

Mr. Krabs:

Disclaimer: This method no longer works as well as it did, because the 1.03 patch heavily nerfed it so you lose 150 Shinies every time you die.

Mr. Krabs needs a total of 41,000 Kelp Shinies on patch 1.03 and can either be found outside SpongeBob's house or The Krusty Krab when spawning, depending on where in the story you are.

Golden Spatula #1: 3,000
Golden Spatula #2: 3,500
Golden Spatula #3: 4,500
Golden Spatula #4: 5,000
Golden Spatula #5: 5,500
Golden Spatula #6: 5,500
Golden Spatula #7: 6,500
Golden Spatula #8: 7,500

The fastest casual way of grinding out Kelp Shinies is by going to the "Drain the Lake" spatula checkpoint in Jellyfish Fields, working your way up to a hill where a clam is. This will autosave your game, where you can repeatedly destroy Tiki boxes, then drown yourself in the waterfall so that Hans can reset you to that point. This should gain about 500-600 points in about every 10 seconds.

This method is showcased here:

Thanks to Skryux for the video.

Golden Spatulas are collectible items in SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. There are 100 of them scattered across the game's various areas. While many of these Golden Spatulas are quite easy to obtain, some will require players to do a bit of work, and one, in particular, asks players to recover a spatula that has been thrown into a lake in Jellyfish Fields. To accomplish this, players need to drain the lake, which is easier said than done. For those players who are struggling to drain the lake in Battle for Bikini Bottom, this guide is here to help.

First and foremost, in order to begin the task, players must be using Patrick and speak to Mrs. Puff. Thankfully, there is a bus stop just a few steps away from her, so players can easily switch characters if they're controlling SpongeBob. Once controlling Patrick, Mrs. Puff will give players the task of recovering the Golden Spatula, and she will say that Patrick can keep it if he gets it.

Updated on September 16, 2022, by Jack Pursey: Thanks to the success of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, Purple Lamp Studios and THQ Nordic are teaming up once again to release SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake in 2023, which is a spiritual sequel to Battle for Bikini Bottom. While waiting for the game's release, many fans of SpongeBob's gaming ventures will likely be returning to the cult classic platformer. For such players, we've updated this guide on one of the game's early stumbling blocks, draining the lake.

How To Drain The Lake

Patrick throwing a robot

Once in control of Patrick, players should take him across the bridge next to Mrs. Puff to reach a small island that is home to three hammer-wielding enemies. To drain the lake, players need to stun the robots and throw them at the brown pumps that are in the water.

Unfortunately, multiple robots will be thrown at the players at once. A handy tip is to destroy all but one of the robots, then pick up and throw the final robot, as this will give the player plenty to aim the robot at the pump, as no other robots will be trying to attack them.

How To Throw The Robots

Patrick slamming

To throw a robot, players first need to stun them. To stun them, perform a slam next to them; it's worth pointing out that the slam has to be very close to the robot, as falling short will make the player an easy target for the un-stunned enemy. To perform a slam, jump into the air then press B on Xbox, A on Switch, or Circle on PlayStation.

From there, players can pick up this stunned enemy and use the same button to throw it at one of the brown pumps that are in the water surrounding the island. Robots will continue to fly over onto the island, so repeat this process until all of the pumps are destroyed. In total, players will need to destroy five pumps to reach the desired collectible item, and they will see the lake drain as soon as that has been done.

What To Do Next

Once the pumps are destroyed, players simply need to collect the Golden Spatula. The spatula can be a bit tricky to see at first; it's off the edge of the island and requires players to hop across a platform.

After a player has recovered the Golden Spatula, they can then continue on their way through Jellyfish Fields. Ultimately, this will lead them to a boss fight against King Jellyfish. Once the boss has been dispatched, players can set their sights on Battle for Bikini Bottom's second level Goo Lagoon, where they must once again go hunting for Golden Spatulas.
