The children are afraid of the Professor not for what he says, but for what he doesn't say. His appearance is also scary: a scraggly white beard that crawls up his cheeks and is met by a pair of deep-set and foreboding eyes. It is said that he lives in the back part of the store, but no one really knows for sure.
3. From where does the Professor watch the children play the Egypt Game?
In the back of the Professor's shop is a little used storeroom that has a window looking out on the storage yard where the children play.
