Was the bold and beautiful preempted today

If you watched yesterday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, then you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat waiting for the next piece of this custody struggle storyline. The episode ended with Child Protective Services on the doorstep of Forrester Mansion to the surprise of Ridge, Thomas, and Douglas.

Yes, that’s right. The child was home when the authorities rolled up asking for his father. He’d been playing a game of chess with his grandfather and talking about his feelings regarding his time with his dad and his great grandfather.

The major concern for the past several weeks has been whether or not Douglas should live with Hope or Thomas. For the last couple of years, Hope has had primary custody of her son. The story has played fast and loose with the reason for that, changing the storyline to fit the narrative they’re going for at the time, but the connecting thread is that he lives with Hope, Liam, and Beth in the cabin on Brooke’s property.

Thomas recently challenged that position after Douglas put forth his worry that his dad doesn’t miss him. Remember, prior to the arrangement they have now, it was Thomas who primarily took care of his son. The boy has repeatedly expressed over the years that he wants to live with his dad again like they used to even though he hasn’t managed to say that in front of Hope.

Rather than act as if he couldn’t do anything about the way Douglas was feeling, Thomas decided it was time he step up and he’s been pushing for residential custody of his son ever since. While it’s upset Hope, she does understand the motive behind his efforts and the two have been as amicable as possible in this situation. Brooke and Liam haven’t been and that came to a head last episode.

Yes, a new episode of The Bold and the Beautiful will air today on CBS. There had been concern about a possible preemption due to the January 6th Committee resuming hearings but the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28 has been postponed due to Hurricane Ian, according to Deadline.

Per TV Guide, today’s episode will focus on the following:

Hope and Brooke disagree about Thomas’s ability to parent Douglas safely. Ridge vigorously defends Thomas to authorities who are asking hard questions.

Last episode, Liam asked Hope if they were no longer on the same page when it comes to where Douglas should live full-time. And, it looks like Brooke is about to catch onto the fact that Hope is sticking to her convictions when it comes to Thomas’ abilities as a parent and a father who can provided a loving home for his son. Brooke is definitely not going to like Hope’s increasing positive stance on a man she despises with her entire being.

While the Logan women clash, Ridge will be doing his utmost to defend Thomas to the CPS workers who have come to his family home. We doubt they’ll remove Douglas from the premises but this escalation in the custody struggle is certainly alarming. How did we get here?
