People who liked The Hunt also likedWhen this movie was coming out, it seemed to be in poor taste. A movie about rich people hunting poor people, conservatives in particular, during a time when rich people were lying about those poor people and basically doing everything they could to make life miserable for the poor. That said, it's pretty well done. The premise is stupid, but it's definitely an action comedy. It tears into the stereotypes of 'both' sides in a way that reveals something both about those stereotypes, and about you as a person and your acceptance of them. It doesn't matter if you were calling fellow humans deplorables or talking about a cabal of rich pedophiles running running all aspects of our society, or maybe, hopefully, somewhere in between, you'll recognize both parts of yourself and parts of those you hate, and the irony that yes, some of what the deplorables believe is true and backed up with facts, and some of it is conspiracy theory, and that yes, often those rich and powerful people aren't doing the horrible things thought of them, but they are doing some horrible things. Why is it no one else has been charged in Epstein affair? Why did Maxwell already get released? Where did all that evidence go? Surely you don't just think that's a conservative conspiracy by now. Yet, who could believe a bunch of rich elitists could figure out how to murder people and get away with it in such a short time, even with a consultant to help them? It's funny, it's violent, and the action is pretty good even if the premise is absurd (and yes, intentionally so). It's just a bit dated now. The 'deplorables' are still treated like deplorables, despite just being working class people. The elitists still have absurd conspiracies of the worst things told about them, and yet some of them must be true of some of them. And the people who buy into it all keep buying in, because to accept that it was mostly absurd is to accept that their worldview is wrong. Don't get too cocky. The deplorables have it mostly right, and if you can't acknowledge that, then yes, this movie is ridiculing you. And it should, because there's no way you can be paying attention and not notice how much of this world isn't right, and that it's not regular people making it that way. To be frank, I'm surprised this movie got made with the way Hollywood is right now. Which is why you should give it a watch. Don't get too attached to anyone, they're all pretty disposable. And if your reaction is to get angry instead of laughing at the absurdity, you might take a few days and think about why that is.  2020-05-15 16:27:19 Twelve strangers wake up in a
