Clarifying Information - WAC 388-474-0010
EXAMPLE Household consists of father, mother, and two children. Father is getting $545 in SSI, an ineligible spouse SSP of $100 and, $440 in TANF for the two children. We discover the error and terminate the SSP for the ineligible spouse. We add the ineligible spouse to the TANF grant. EXAMPLE Household consists of father, mother, and two children. Father is getting SSI, an ineligible spouse SSP and, $440 in TANF for the two children. Terminate the SSP payment. Mother is disabled and chooses to apply for SSI and father and mother are approved for SSI as a couple getting $818 for themselves and $440 TANF for the children. EXAMPLE Grandfather and grandmother receive SSI and the ineligible spouse SSP. They apply for TANF for their grandchildren. We open the children on TANF. What is the most SSI a person can get?SSI amounts for 2023
The monthly maximum Federal amounts for 2023 are $914 for an eligible individual, $1,371 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse, and $458 for an essential person.
What is the lowest you can get for SSI?The basic monthly SSI payment for 2022 is the same nationwide. It is: —$841 for one person. —$1,261 for a couple.
Who are the people on SSI?The SSI program provides monthly payments to adults and children who have low income and resources, and who are blind or disabled. The SSI program also provides monthly payments to people age 65 and older who have low income and resources.
What is not included in the SSI?Not everything an individual receives is considered to be income for SSI purposes. Generally, if the item received cannot be used as, or to obtain, food or shelter, it will not be considered as income.
