ADDING LAUNDRY PRODUCTSIMPORTANT: Using non-HE detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and reduced rinsing performance. It may also result in component malfunction and, over time, buildup of mold or mildew. HE detergents should be low-sudsing and quick-dispersing to produce the right amount of suds for the best performance. ADDING HE DETERGENT TO BASKETAdd a measured amount of HE detergent or single-dose laundry packets into the basket. If using oxi-type boosters, color-safe bleach, or fabric softener crystals, add to the bottom of the washer basket before adding clothes. ADDING LIQUID CHLORINE BLEACHDo not overfill, dilute, or use more than 1 cup (236 mL). Do not use color-safe bleach or oxi products in the same cycle with liquid chlorine bleach. ADDING LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENERIf you desire to use liquid fabric softener with this washer, Whirlpool suggests using the Downy Ball® dispenser. Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the Downy Ball® dispenser, pull the ring tightly to seal it, and place on top of load. Follow manufacturer’s directions for correct amount of fabric softener based on your load size. Then use the Rinse Options button to select Fabric Softener. The Downy Ball® dispenser will automatically release the fabric softener at the correct time in the cycle. For questions on using the Downy Ball® dispenser visit www.downy.com. ADDING LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER MANUALLYSelect the Fabric Softener option on the control panel before starting a cycle. CHOOSING THE RIGHT CYCLEA cycle guide for your washer can be found online at www.whirlpool.com. For example we recommend using the NORMAL cycle with Warm water for cottons, linens and mixed-garment loads. PRE-TREATING BEFORE A WASH
CYCLE
MORE WATER WHEN YOU WANT ITAUTO SENSING AND DEEP WATER
CLEANING WITH LESS WATERThe washer has been designed and optimized to provide a thorough cleaning using less water to conserve energy and resources. As the washer dampens and moves the load, the level of
the items will settle in the basket. This is normal, and does not indicate that more items should be added. ASSISTANCE OR SERVICE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONFAQ’SDoes Whirlpool make good top load washers? Our favorite is the Whirlpool WTW8127LW 5.3 cu. ft. 2-in-1 Top Load Washing Machine because it has both an agitator and impeller plate, an extra-large capacity, and a host of convenient features. Find the best top load washers for every type of budget, household, and laundry room below What are the most common problems on a Whirlpool washing machine? Here are seven of the most common problems on a Whirlpool washing machine and potential fixes for them. Do Whirlpool washers have a reset button? Follow these steps to reset a Whirlpool washing machine: Make sure the power to the washer is turned on at the wall, but keep the Power button on the control off. Hold the Program button down while simultaneously pressing the Water Level button two times. When done correctly, the control panel lights should illuminate. Why is my Whirlpool washer not cleaning clothes? Have you run a Clean Washer Cycle? If you feel that the clothes are not coming clean or that the washer level is lower than when you first started using this washer, try running a Clean Washer cycle. This cycle re-calibrates the control, and resets it back to the factory-set water levels. Where do you put the detergent in a Whirlpool top load washer? For a top load washing machine without a dispenser, put your detergents directly into the drum of your washer. Always ensure that you measure and pour the right amount of detergent as doing that will always give you a clean wash. How do you put liquid detergent in a top loading washing machine? If you have a regular top-loading machine, it’s best to fill your washer with water first, then add your detergent, then add your clothes. This helps evenly distribute the detergent in the water before it hits your clothes. Remember that the nicer you are to your washer and dryer the longer they’ll last. Why is my Whirlpool washer loud when spinning? A Whirlpool washing machine making loud banging noise on the spin cycle is nerve-racking. The clutch engages the transmission with the tub during the spin cycle, which allows the tub to spin fast. Excessive overloading causes the clutch to wear out over time and consequently, the tub spins slower and more noisily. Why does my washer sound like an airplane taking off? This is due to the fact that most washing machines have concrete blocks placed inside. Their role is to weight down the drum, otherwise, the machine part will try to fly through the lid of the appliance during every spin cycle How do I know if my washing machine agitator is broken? The agitator should start to oscillate back and forth, mixing up the clothes in the water. If the agitator does not move, double check that the sensor is depressed. If it still does not move with the sensor depressed, the agitator is broken and should be repaired. What is better Maytag or Whirlpool? Both brands will deliver a durable product and a quality clean. Maytag washing machines provide a greater value and display of features compared to Whirlpool, whereas with Whirlpool, you will find a greater selection of top-load and front-load products with a wider range of price points Which is better washer with agitator or not? Washing machines with an impeller tend to wash your clothes better than with an agitator. That means that, generally speaking, front load washers or top load washers without an agitator will do a better job at getting rid of tough stains and dirt off your clothes. Documents / ResourcesReferencesHow do you use fabric softener in a Whirlpool top load washer? If your machine has a fabric softener dispenser, add a measured amount of the product and dilute it with warm water to fill the dispenser to the “Max Fill” line. If your top load washer does not have a fabric softener dispenser, you will have to add the fabric softener manually.
What if my washer doesn't have a fabric softener dispenser? When adding fabric softener in top load washer without a dispenser, simply pour it in during the rinse cycle. We suggest pouring it into the washer tub's water instead of directly on clothing to avoid staining.
