American Safety and Health Institute Basic Life Support Course is designed for individuals in the healthcare or professional rescuer field that are required to have professional-level basic life support training. Certification is valid for 2 years from course completion date.

About the Course

Students learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support and what to do in case of an airway obstruction or choking. BLS covers life-saving skills for adults, children, and infants.

There is a written and a skill evaluation for successful completetion of the course.

Individuals in the healthcare or professional rescuer field that are required to have professional-level basic life support training.

This course is NOT for healthcare providers, or students in healthcare related programs. Healthcare providers and students should take BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers. Please check with your institution to make sure this is the correct course for you.

American Safety and Health Institute CPR AED is nationally recognized

The CPR AED course covers:

Adult CPR AED

Causes and effects of opioid overdose

The opioid epidemic in the U.S.

Course length is approximately up to 2 hours, with skills testing by an ASHI instructor or skills evaluator during the course.

The ASHI CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

  • security and airline personnel
  • camp counselors
  • police and firefighters
  • teachers and day-care workers
  • aerobics teachers/physical-fitness trainers
  • other individuals who want or need CPR training.

This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to a cardiac arrest and choking. This program conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

    Is American Safety and Health Institute legit?

    Certification by the ASHI is generally accepted as valid and equivalent to similar certification given by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid. Certification training programs include CPR and AED, Emergency Medical Responder, Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

    Is ASHI accredited by AHA?

    If a CPR certification is required for your business or profession, both ASHI and AHA are accepted nationally. Both offer the same course guidelines and are good for 2 years.

    How long is CPR certification?

    So you will need to renew it by taking a refresher course. So, how long does first aid certification take to complete? The answer is- the Basic First Aid, and CPR training certification lasts for three years.
