Over the coming weeks and months I will be adding several more colors back to the lineup, as well as new ones when possible. There will be several colors that we made previously that will most likely not make a comeback, at least not in the near future. If you see one you can not live without please let me know in case the opportunity comes up to offer it again. These are as follows: The following colors are on the short list to get back into production, in no particular order: Because our Cadmium Yellows are typically a step lighter than other versions on the market I get asked often how they compare to the others. So here is a composite that will hopefully give a better idea of the differences between them. They were all shot under the same cross polarized lighting setup to reduce glare and give a more saturated color in an attempt to illustrate this all better than I can describe them. Please let me know if you have any questions. More pictures coming soon… I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year and are now ready to tackle 2017 well rested and rejuvenated. 2017 will make ten years since Blue Ridge was turned from a dream into a reality, and I could not be more excited to see what the next ten will look like. As always, please let me know if you have any problems or questions. Happy Painting – Eric Silver We have finally moved back into our workshop, and have begun production once again. This simply would not have been possible without everyone’s support and encouragement over the past year. Starting over from scratch was hard enough the second time around, but the biggest difference this time is you. When this day didn’t seem like it would actually happen it was your emails and messages that kept the drive going forward. We can not thank you enough, but will continue to try. We still have a long way to go, but over the next couple of weeks we will be grinding colors and adding them to the website as fast as possible. The linens will be coming back most likely in October, as well as dry pigments. The DeMayerne medium is now online, and we will be adding other mediums over time as well as oils and turpentine. During this time there may be a delay in shipping orders, within 2-4 days, but everything is going much quicker now. As always we greatly appreciate your patience and look forward to working together again soon. Thank You – Eric & Athena Silver Please forgive me for taking this long to post an update of our rebuild. Needless to say it has been a long road to get to this point, and I had every intention of posting updates along the way. Since that did not happen here is where we are today. Our old building has been torn down, shortened, rebuilt, wired, plumbed, etc etc. We were finally able to pass the final inspection, which meant I could power up our new roller mill for the first time. However, the transformer sending the mill its power started smoking and popping. Needless to say the transformer was fried and we are still waiting on a new transformer to arrive and swapped out. That should be next week at the latest, and then the real work begins. In the next few weeks there should be colors starting to show back up online, with more to follow rather quickly as we get under way. In the meantime please let me know if you have any questions. My tentative plan for what colors I will be grinding first, and adding back to the website for order :
Welcome back to Blue Ridge. After the fire, five months ago, we had no idea how we would ever get to this point. The enormous support from our customers and friends helped keep us going, especially during the moments when things seemed hopeless. We could not get to this point without you. We currently are offering a select group of the most useful colors but soon will be adding more colors back to the lineup. Eventually a complete range of colors will be offered again. If your favorite color is no longer listed please let us know. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. If you should experience any glitches with the new website let us know so we can make sure it gets fixed. We will do our best to get your orders filled and shipped as soon as possible. Once again, thank you from all of us here at Blue Ridge. We look forward to reconnecting with everyone and working together once again. Our current offering of oil colors is a select group of our most popular and useful colors for painters. In the coming weeks several new colors will be added to the site as they become ready. These include the following: Flake White Flemish White Cadmium Yellow Deep Cadmium Red Medium Cadmium Vermilion Pyrol Red Thalo Blue Green Shade Alizarin Crimson Transparent Red Oxide Indian Yellow On September 2, 2015 our shop was destroyed by fire, caused by the combustion of linseed oil soaked rags inside a metal trash can which spread to the ceiling and then traveled down the walls. Leaving nothing in its path the fire destroyed everything we had worked for. Needless to say, this could have been easily avoided. The fire marshal told us, “putting them in a metal trash can was 95% right, putting the lid on being the other 5%.” The danger is real and hopefully everyone reading this will remember to do the other 5%. It only takes once, under the right conditions. That was certainly not the first time we had forgotten to put the lid on the trash can but for whatever reason this time was different, conditions were just right. Aside from some thalo green stained suits, no one was hurt fighting the fire. Material things can be replaced. This building’s demolition will start soon and the lengthy rebuilding process eventually will make our operation even stronger. |
