Peacock is the subscription streaming home for NBCUniversal movies and shows, making it the only place to stream hit series like "The Office."

A free version is available with a limited selection of programs, and you can pay for a premium plan to unlock everything. Ad-supported Peacock Premium costs $5 a month, and an ad-free Peacock Premium Plus plan costs $10 a month.

Subscribers can watch popular shows like "Yellowstone" and "Modern Family," as well as new original series like "The Resort." Starting September 12, Peacock will become the exclusive home of "Days of Our Lives," with new episodes set to stream every day. Peacock Premium features live sports as well, including Sunday Night Football.

Peacock is also streaming select Universal films 45 days after they debut in theaters. Movies like "Downton Abbey: A New Era" are now available, and films like "Nope" are expected in the coming months.

What is Peacock?

Peacock is a streaming service created by NBCUniversal with three subscription plans: Free, Premium, and Premium Plus. The platform offers a collection of shows, movies, and original series, along with live sports and news. 

Content can be viewed via an on-demand library or via special streaming channels broken down by genres and franchises.

Peacock's catalog includes a mix of new and classic NBC shows, like "Saturday Night Live" and "The Office," and Universal films. Peacock original programs are also included for premium subscribers.

Where can I sign up for Peacock?

Peacock launched nationwide on July 15, 2020. You can sign up for a Free, Premium, or Premium Plus subscription right now through the Peacock website.

Where can I watch Peacock?

Peacock's streaming app is available on Vizio, Samsung, and LG smart TVs, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices, Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Chromecast, Xfinity, and Flex devices.

Is Peacock free?

The base version of Peacock is free, but there are commercials and the selection is limited. Peacock offers more than 7,500 hours worth of movies and TV with its free version, but you can get access to twice as much content by upgrading to a Peacock Premium plan.

How much does Peacock Premium cost?

Peacock Premium costs $5 a month or $50 a year. However, Peacock Premium still has commercials. If you want to watch without ads, you need to upgrade to the Peacock Premium Plus plan for $10 a month or $100 a year.

The Peacock Premium catalog includes new original series, gives subscribers access to exclusive content from NBC shows and WWE Network, and lets you watch ongoing series the day after they air on TV.

If you already subscribe to Xfinity internet or cable you get Peacock Premium for free with your current subscription. 

What shows and movies are on Peacock?

Peacock features more than 15,000 hours worth of TV and movies, though you'll need a Premium subscription to access the full catalog. NBCUniversal says about half of the catalog, more than 7,500 hours worth, is available for free.

You can stream classic shows like "The Office," "Law & Order," and "Parks & Recreation." Peacock Premium users can access new episodes of ongoing NBC shows the day after they air. Daily broadcasts from NBC News and MSNBC also stream on Peacock, and new episodes of "Days of Our Lives" will stream daily starting September 12.

Universal franchises like "Fast & Furious" are part of the service's rotating catalog, along with popular older titles like "The Big Lebowski." Films from other studios like "The Harry Potter" series are also included from time to time. Peacock's movie selection isn't permanent, however, so some titles may be removed and then added back at a later date. 

Peacock Premium subscribers are also able to watch new original shows, like the Tina Fey-produced series "Girls5Eva," Bel-Air," and "The Resort. Original movies are also being developed for Peacock, including the new Blumhouse horror film "They/Them."

Peacock has live sports as well, including Sunday Night Football and matches from the Premier League. Peacock will stream exclusive Major League Baseball games on Sunday mornings during the season, and wrestling fans can watch WWE Network shows and PPV events as part of a Premium or Premium Plus membership.

Can I watch brand-new Universal movies on Peacock?

In 2021, Universal began releasing select movies, like "Halloween Kills," on Peacock Premium and in theaters at the same time. The most recent same-day movie release was "Firestarter" on May 13.

In addition to select same-day releases, some Universal films will arrive on Peacock 45 days after they hit theaters. "Downton Abbey: A New Era" was the most recent movie to follow this strategy.

That said, some big franchise films like "Jurassic World: Dominion" are being excluded from this release plan. Instead, these bigger movies will hit the service within four months of their theatrical releases.

According to details revealed in July 2021, once Universal movies arrive on Peacock they will remain exclusive to the service for four months. They can then be licensed to other subscription services for 10 months, before returning exclusively to Peacock for another four months.
