Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built and easy to start [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mower is fantastic! I had a previous version that lasted me 7 years with zero problems and I basically wore it out. I waited several months till I could order a new one and as soon as it was available I put in my order. Item shipped quickly and only required minimal assembly. I am 68 and the electric start is a thing of beauty! It is sturdy and well made. It is self propelled and makes quick work of cutting under trees and around bushes. The collection bag is sturdy and easy to empty. my terrain is not a manicured lawn but lined by wooded areas so I use this to keep those areas trimmed back and it is a workhorse. Can't say enough good about this mower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DONALD from Unique Applications The top three benefits; 1. Homes in my neighborhood are on small lots and the mower is relatively quiet and relatively more neighbor considerate and friendly. 2 The mulcher blade is very enviromentally beneficial and effective because I can raise the deck height and chop up Fall leaves that what would easily fill twenty large lawn/leaf bags 3. it is very easy to collapse the mower and store in anout a 2x2x1 foot box during the off-season in NJ Go Troybilt. Best regards, Don

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chevy Camaro from Best Lawnmower From Experience [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this model several years ago and been extremely happy with the performance and tech support pertaining to the TB290. Maintenance is minimal because of the lawnmower design. I loved this machine so much that I have given it to my father for ease of grass cutting and he enjoys it for every summertime lawn care. Parts are very easy to obtain through the online catalog as well with helpful staff on the phones to assist you with any questions. I upgraded to the XP490 and satisfied with the purchase. You can't go wrong with Troy-Bilt !

Rated 4 out of 5 by joe b from Good motor, reliable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower because it was a good deal. The electric start worked great for one season, then the battery will no longer hold a charge so now I have a mower that the electric start will not work, but the mower still starts on the first pull. What I thought would be a huge convenience turned out to be exorbitantly expensive to repair and not worth the extra expense, still a good reliable motor and mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by proplumb from Going on the 5th year [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually have the TB280 ES so I guess this is the newer model. It's going on the fifth year and it still runs great. Just keep up the maintenance and all is well.

Is an electric start lawn mower worth it?

Electric starters on lawn mowers are worth it for those looking for an easy-start mower, like those with arm or shoulder injuries or limited mobility. They reduce the need for physical effort since many have self-propelled drive assemblies. However, they're more complex and require more maintenance.

How long does a battery last in a self propelled lawn mower?

How long do battery-powered lawn mowers last? With proper maintenance, battery-powered lawn mowers should last between eight and 10 years. However, because a battery's charge capacity decreases over time, you will likely need to replace the battery after about five years.

Can you put an electric start on a lawn mower?

Tired of pulling a rope to get your lawn mower engine started? Our InStart technology means no more pulling the cord to start mowing: just push the button or turn the key for instant starting! With the latest lithium-ion battery technology, InStart provides the ultimate in starting performance.

What is an electric start gas lawn mower?

An electric start lawn uses an electric starter rather than a manual crank cord to initially turn the engine. An electric start lawn mower should not be confused with an electric lawn mower, which uses an electric motor rather than an internal combustion engine to rotate its blades.
