Here is our quick Genie Opener and remote tutorial. We explain how to program a new or existing remote to your Genie garage door opener. Please note, clearing the memory of your opener is an optional step. It will remove all remotes, cars, or keyless entries connected and require them to be reprogramed, but may be a good safety measure if you have lost your garage door remote. Otherwise, skip the memory clearing step and just program the remote. Please give us a call if you need any further assistance with your garage or garage door opener. Steps:Optional- Clear Memory1) Press and hold the program button until LED turns blue and begins flashing. 2) Then hold both the up and down arrows until the purple flashing turns blue. Program the Remote1) Press and hold the program button until LED turns blue and begins flashing. 2) On the remote you wish to program, press the desired button 2-3 times. 3) That's all! Your remote should now operate your garage door. HomeLink and Car2U are both in-car technologies that allow you to open your garage door from your car. Usually, these 3 buttons are located on your visor or on the ceiling of your car above your center console. The benefit of being able to open your garage door from your car is that you do not need a garage door opener remote. The HomeLink and Car2U systems are powered by your car’s electrical system so they do not need batteries, unlike a hand-held garage door opener remote. Genie garage door openers are compatible with both HomeLink and Car2U technologies. Cars equipped with HomeLink have a single LED and usually feature an image of a house at the top middle button. Cars featuring Car2U have 3 LED lights above each of the three buttons. HomeLink Buttons Car2U Buttons Programming HomeLink® System Detailed PDF Instructions. Video found here. Neither car with homelink will program to the new genie model 1055B opener. I’ve tried all methods (multiple times) in the genie instruction manual and each car’s instruction manual with no luck. Am ready to return to HomeDepot to consider another brand opener. Can you help? @Colin – The Square button on the bottom of the powerhead would be the learn code button. (It would say program/set). I just bought a Genie model 3155D from Home Depot there are two buttons on the left side is this where the learn button is located. @Charles. The learn code button can be at different locations based on which model you have. Normally, it is on the bottom of the cover for newer models – and it will say program. On older models, it is usually under the light bulb cover, to the left of the left light bulb when your back is to the door. You can also call our customer service for assistance at 1-800-354-3643. |
