Card, there is no fee.
Temporarily use your Macy's Credit Card until your new Card arrives
If you accept an upgrade offer, you may continue to use your Macy's Credit Card until your new Macy's American Express® Card arrives. Once you receive your new Card, your current Card will no longer be valid and should be destroyed.
Your Macy's Credit Card account balance will transfer
Any existing Macy's Credit Card account balance will be
transferred to your new Macy's American Express® Card account, and you'll be assigned a new account number. If you have an existing promotional balance, the terms of your promotion, including the expiration date, will not change.
Your Star Rewards loyalty level and points balance will transfer
Your Star Rewards loyalty level and any points earned with your Macy's Credit Card will be transferred to your new Macy's American Express® Card.

Lisa Cahill, Credit Cards Moderator Yes, it is hard to get the Macy's Credit Card because it requires at least good credit for approval. Unless your credit score is 700 or higher and you
have a lot of income, it will be difficult for you to get approved for the Macy's Credit Card. In order to get the Macy's Credit Card, you will have to meet the credit score requirement, have a steady income and be at least 18 years old. You'll also need to have an SSN. Keep in mind that even if you meet all of the requirements for the Macy's Credit Card, you're never guaranteed to be approved. Syd Jones, WalletHub Credit Card Analyst Macy's doesn't specify a minimum credit score to
qualify for either of its credit cards. In general, if you have a score higher than 700 for the credit card and 640 for the store card, your odds of approval are high. Keep in mind that in addition to your credit... View more answers Maria Adams, Credit Cards Moderator The Macy's Credit Card is issued by Department Stores National Bank, a subsidiary of Citibank. This card is obnoxious. Macy's is obnoxious. Macy's automatically switched me to Macy's American Express, and for the life of me, I can't get them to switch my previous Macy's account with this card, thus preventing me from being able to pay my bills online and setting up auto pays. When I try to activate the AE card, it gives me the error: We cannot register and/or activate your card at this time. This has been going on for years. The only way I can pay my bill is by snail mail, going into a store, or by calling them directly, where they tell me the easiest way to pay is by doing it online. SMH. The phone call wastes 4+ minutes of my life every month paying off this damn card. Macy's has also been playing this game with me for YEARS where they conveniently "forget" to send my final bill, which would have been paid off. And since I can't set up auto-pay, a missed hard copy of the bill affects my ability to pay that bill on time, so they conveniently get to add another $30 to my account. I just wound up completing my final bill + the late fee, and OF COURSE, what's in my mailbox? A freaking Macy's bill asking for two more dollars. Let's not even get into how long it took for them to get my name and address correctly on the bill. If Macy's didn't have good coupons and nice wool coats for the cooler months, I'd be done with them.

Verified CustomerThis is Bloomingdale's card, I made an initial purchase and I paid for it in full. Even though the card is a Bloomingdale's card, it reports to the credit bureaus as a Macy's card. Since the billing is handled by American Express it has their logo, but it is not an American Express card. The way that they figure the billing is also confusing. The purchase was deducted twice from my credit limit, even though I only ordered one item. When I called to find out why I had been billed twice, the lady I was talking to did not seem to understand what I was saying or have any idea how to address my concerns. She kept trying to tell me that I was only charged once(it was clear that the cost of the merchandise had been deducted twice), and she also told me that it would be OK but did not explain to me how that would happen. The issue was resolved but it required written communication through e-mail with them. This was my first interaction with them, and it was not a good one.
