We talk a lot about good "basic" moisturizers at Allure — dermatologists love them for making skin glow without extras (like fragrances) that can cause sensitivity or dryness. La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Balm Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream fits the bill, and then some.

The fragrance-free formula is perfect in its simplicity. It’s gentle enough that it can be used on sensitive and eczema-prone skin (it’s even earned the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance). And because it’s loaded with some tried-and-true moisturizers — shea butter, glycerin — it’s also effective enough that it got rid of a stubborn dry flaky patch on my hand (the result of my engagement ring rubbing against my pinky 24/7). It’s designed for use on the face and on the body, and it helps calm redness (the formula has niacinamide, which helps take down flushing). And even though it’s got two seemingly contradictory words in its name — “balm” and “cream” — this moisturizer feels (and looks) just like a rich cream going on.

But that’s not to suggest that it’s just therapeutic: La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Balm Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream also gives my cheeks a pretty, natural-looking dewiness that I love. Because the formula is so rich and so creamy, there are a few ways that I like to use it: 1) I’ll tap a little over my cheeks for a glow, after smoothing a lighter moisturizer or serum over my whole face. 2) I’ll use it as an overnight treatment on days when my face is looking or feeling dry to balance it back out. 3) I use it regularly as a body moisturizer, and it makes my legs, hands, and arms soft and smooth. Plus, it is unassuming after it is rubbed in. There's no slippery feel, and no fragrance to compete with my favorite perfume.

You'll find the La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Balm Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream in our October 2020 Allure Beauty Box.

It checks all of the boxes. Fragrance free, absorbs into skin without leaving a white residue, no itching skin, skin feels great, a little goes a long way...but if you buy the larger pump bottle...ug....you have to pull up and push down to get it out. I guess I'm buying the smaller from now on.

Cancer patient friendly but it needs a sturdier closure

Extremely great specs and size for the price. One of the few affordable and over the counter moisturizers I've seen with a label indicating is suitable for chemo/radiation patients. The new Eco-conscious tube idea is an extra bonus for me. Having said that, I don't feel confident about the cap. Is very thin and if it breaks it can't be easily fixed. This doesn't allow me to take the cream out of my apartment; which lessen the value of the product. Any type of rough movement inside a handbag, gym bag, or if you share the tube with someone who doesn't open it gently, can cause the flimsy closure to break. The cream is very thick, it will last forever. I apply it once before going to bed and it has healed my extremely dry hands (due to chemotherapy and immunotherapy) in less than a month. My face has also benefited substantially; the redness was gone during the first week I stated using it nightly. Beware that even when using it sparingly it will leave a shiny kind of coating on your skin. I recommended but not for traveling anywhere due to the package design.

Great for face and body

The La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair Body Moisturizer For Dry Skin has saved my dry, cracked, itchy, eczema prone skin. I use it on my face, neck, ears, and hands. It doesn't breakout my combination skin and it heals and soothes my itchiness, flaking, and rashes. I use this on my face and neck twice a day and apply it to my hands after washing. Highly recommend!

Very moisturizing

This is a one coat and done body lotion, even on shaved legs. And non irritating. There’s no fragrance and it’s quite liquid, but a little goes a long way.

My go to lotion

This lotion actually works!!! Isn’t watery. Very thick good moisturizing lotion. Not scented either which is great for people with sensitive skin. This is my go to lotion for dry skin over everything.

Best body moisturizer I’ve found

Love the texture and feel of this cream during and after application. Super rich/thick (definitely not a lotion) great for dry or sensitive skin. I needed something for winter and this is working great.

Great lotion - poor closure design

I love this lotion but am unhappy with the container top. Feels flimsy and easy to break. Top will not stay closed for travel. Prefer a regular top and closure.

Great stuff

This is very thick and luxurious and makes my skin feel very soft. However I find it difficult to get it through the pump and straw, I wish it came in a tub.

A little dab will do

La Roche Posay makes the most perfect products, especially for the dry skin I get when the temperature starts dropping here in Central Illinois. Just a little dab massaged into my skin and it soaks in immediately with no greasy feeling and my skin feels soft and supple, not dry and crepey.

Worked for my itchy dry skin

My friend as a dermatologist recommended me using this to help ease my itchy dry skin. I got no bumps on my skin, it’s just itchy, especially at night LOL. I think it helps soothe my skin and keep the moisture. I did use this lotion together with other methods as well like humidifier, no hot shower water.

Average body moisturizer

Had higher expectations but this product did not leave lasting hydration for me. Still a good value for normal skin types.

Nice for older skin

After losing weight as an older person, this really does make a a difference in crepey skin. The best thing is that it is so mild, & unfragranced.

Disappointing

This product was formerly known as "Lipikar Balm Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream" and is supposed to be the same product. Unfortunately, it is not. This renamed moisturizer is not as thick, creamy or hydrating and is a real disappointment. Why change something great?

Great All Over!

Get the big bottle with the pump because you will want to use it everywhere every day, on legs and arms for sure and neck and face if you like . Thick and rich but not oily. Great for winter dry skin especially. Virtually fragrance free, non irritating.

La Roche-Posay triple repair body moisturizer

This product is appropriately named. It actually does repair your skin. I was at the beach this summer and unfortunately got sunburned. I applied this lotion and it healed my skin. When my face is unusually dry, I apply it directly on my skin at night and the next day my skin is not dry. Love this lotion!
