How do I know which water filter my fridge takes?Filters are usually labeled with their name and part number, but you can also use our Fridge Filter Finder tool to order the right filter for your fridge. Also, your refrigerator model number should be printed on a label that's place in your fridge.
Can you clean a refrigerator water filter cartridge?Dish soap or water and vinegar mixture work, or you can buy solvents specifically for cleaning water filters. Let the filter soak for 10 – 30 minutes, depending on how soiled it is. Then rinse under a gentle stream of water until the water coming out of it is clear.
Can I use a generic water filter in my refrigerator?Generic is fine. For all filters, I suggest rinsing well and running some water through to the drain to remove the "fines" before attaching to the inlet on the fridge.
