We stay at the Embassy Suites on 17th Street. You can see the ships from the top floor, there is a shopping center right behind the hotel for any last minute shopping or have a meal, there is Happy Hour every night at 5. Show

Posted February 5, 2018 This is where we stay:
Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale 17th Street Convention Center 1851 SE 10th Ave "is only half a mile to Port Everglades Cruise Port and three miles from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. For your convenience, we offer a shuttle service to both destinations."
A light food restaurant and bar on site and 2 restaurants next door. Free breakfast. Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... CruiserBrucePosted February 5, 2018 CruiserBruce

Just to clarify...the shuttle service at Hyatt Place is NOT free. There is a $2 charge per room to get to the hotel from FLL and a $7/person charge from the hotel to Port Everglades.
We stayed there this past fall and paid the $2 for the shuttle to the hotel from the airport and then used Lyft to get from the hotel to the port. The cost for the Lyft was only $5.75 (for the car, not per person). A much better value than paying $14 for the two of us and we didn't have to wait around until the hotel shuttle was full. Posted February 5, 2018 I would take CruiserBruce's advice and check out the Florida Departure Board where this question comes up very often.

Posted February 5, 2018 We have stayed many times both pre and post cruise at the Embassy Suites. Managers cocktail party is from 5:30 - 7:30 usually held in the E Spot restaurant. Free full breakfast in the morning. The Harbor shops is right behind the hotel -- lots of restaurants there and in the strip mall next to the hotel and across the street. Total Wine is located in the Harbor Shops -- many people get their wine there. There is small fee for the shuttle to the cruise terminal. We just call a taxi. Posted February 5, 2018 We used the Ramada Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise Port, 2275 W State Rd 84, (I-95 & Marina Mile Blvd) once and will try it again at the end of this March. They have a free airport and cruise shuttle and you can walk to a pretty decent restaurant (Rendezvous) a block or so north on the marina. The Southland Shopping Center (includes a Winn-Dixie, a liquor store, and a few restaurants) is a bit over a mile away (east) and does not look like it would be a safe walk due to the I-95 interchange. Posted February 6, 2018 We will be returning to the Fairfield Inn in Dania Beach. We drive to the port and FI has a park/cruise package that includes shuttle service. We left our car there for 21 days, safe in a fenced parking area. Easy walking distance to a couple of great restaurants too. Not a 5 star hotel, but a nice comfortable place to stay. Same neighbourhood, but we usually stay at the Best Western or Hampton Inn right beside the Southland Shopping Centre. Both are perfectly clean and good hotels for a pre-cruise hotel. I find the proximity to the grocery store, restaurants, liquor store and fast food places very convenient. Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... Posted February 6, 2018 We have stayed many times at the Hampton Inn Airport North Cruiseport and have always been happy with our choice. They have a free airport shuttle and for $6.00 they shuttle you to the port. They are across the road from a large plaza with several food options, a grocery store, a liquor store and many other shopping options. The staff at the hotel are great, and the complimentary breakfast is quite good.
This past December we broke with tradition and stayed at the Embassy Suites instead. We have read many times here on CC that it is highly recommended, and as it was actually cheaper than the Hampton, we decided to try it.
Well, I know lots of people here on CC love this place, but we were not impressed. The room was okay, nothing special. The bathroom was not as nice as the Hampton's. The placement of the bathroom right off the sleeping area we found kind of odd. The front desk staff were not as friendly. We liked the area the hotel is in and the shopping area close by. We did like the view from our room - saw the ships in the port when we awoke. The breakfast was not good. Yes, they have a "cooked to order" breakfast available but the line ups for that were very long. So we opted to have what they had ready on their buffet. We felt the food was not very good - definitely substandard to what we have always had at the Hampton. Overall we were slightly disappointed in our stay at the Embassy Suites. It's not a bad hotel, and we would stay there again if the price was right. But our first choice will still be the Hampton. Posted February 6, 2018 We stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th, as well. Paid for the shuttle from airport and to port. Great breakfast and loved that there was shopping within walking distance. Was able to get our juice, pop, snacks and wine at the Publix!

Posted February 6, 2018 We've stayed at the Marriott Springhill Suites - Dania Beach a couple of times, both pre- & post cruise. Nothing fancy, but clean & has a shuttle that you need to sign up for to the port, can't remember the price & coming back from the port you just wait till you see it drop passengers off. Yes there are some good casual dinner options and some fast food options as well just across the street. We usually hit Slackers sports bar in the mall for a pre-cruise meal. They have an airport shuttle and the cab to the pier is about $15 for the 4 of us (we cruise with our two kids). The Hampton Inn Airport North Cruise Port is our hotel of choice too. Love the airport shuttle, the convenience to last minute shopping (we never pack things like toothpaste, shampoo, or sunscreen so we always need to pick them up on arrival), and decent restaurants.
A few stays we have used the hotel's shuttle to nearby restaurants, but in December we walked over to the Thai restaurant in the Southland Shopping Center. It was very good, as rated by one of our traveling party who spends 4-6 months a year in Thailand and knows authentic Thai food.
The biggest tip I have is make sure when you catch free the shuttle from the airport that you are careful to get on the Airport North Cruise Port shuttle. There is a Hampton Inn Airport South and it's easy to get them mixed up. The Airport North Cruise Port Hampton in has pink flamingos on the shuttle. Check for those and ask the driver if you are in doubt as to which Hampton Inn the shuttle is going to.
