Show DVD box set The Lord of the Rings: Special Extended Edition is a version of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy. These versions have new editing, additional special effects and music, and also more scenes and content than the theatrical versions. Each film contains two discs, of the movie, and two bonus disc "appendices" of extensive documentary on all behind-the-scenes aspects.

The extended editions were also released on Blu-Ray as a box set in June 2011[1], while the theatrical Blu-Ray was released as a box set in September 2010.
What was cut from Fellowship of the Ring?One character was cut completely from the theatrical cut of The Lord of the Rings: the Mouth of Sauron (Bruce Spence). The Mouth of Sauron is a disfigured creature with an unsettling appearance. He lies and tells the heroes that Frodo is dead, but Aragorn isn't fooled and chops off his head.
Is there an extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring?Not counting the fan credits, The Fellowship of the Ring adds 30 minutes of new material in the extended edition to take its running time from 178 minutes to 208 minutes.
Are the LOTR Extended Editions better?While Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy is widely regarded as a well-made adaptation of Tolkien's work, the extended editions earned even more praise.
