My name is Todd Eckles and I am a small hobby breeder of Miniature American Shepherds formerly known as Miniature Australian Shepherds. It has been a life-long dream of mine to raise pedigree dogs. I chose the Miniature American Shepherd due to the breed’s intelligence, diversity of color, size, devotion and love as a companion. Miniature American Shepherds are intelligent and very personable. This herding breed
is very loyal and loves people. They are easy to train and establish a very attentive relationship with their owner. Temperament and performance are the corner stone of this breed. This makes them both excellent performance and companion dogs. The Mini Aussie is a medium size dog. Females range from 13” to 17” and males ranging from 14” to 18” at the withers. There are four colors in the breed, Blue Merle, Black Tri, Red Merle and Red Tri. Due to their intelligence
and athletic ability, they excel at many performance venues like conformation, agility, herding, diving, fly ball, rally, barn hunt and obedience. For the same reasons, they make amazing pets. They thrive in the home environment and love an active family. They truly become part of the family. As a breeder, my goal is to further the standard of the breed by raising structurally correct, healthy, happy dogs that excel in conformation/performance venues and are loving pets. It is very important to me to raise healthy dogs. My dogs undergo DNA testing for PRA-PRCD, DM, HC and MDR1. Their eyes are certified and once they are 2 years old, they complete an OFA evaluation on their hips, knees and elbows. Mental stimulation is very important to a herding dog that is constantly thinking. My dogs have completed obedience training, are shown in conformation shows and have begun agility training. It is amazing how fast these dogs learn a new trick. They are truly are motivated to please their owner. Please take some time to explore the site and get to know the dogs.
